Its great to see the success of Sweet Bobby! In the mix we had to think outside the box on a few crucial story moments and identified a rare opportunity to pan the music stems as Atmos objects In this scene Kirat becomes increasingly frustrated and starts to panic. We found we could express and emphasis her emotional state with panning. When used correctly, extreme panning can create a disorientating experience and in Dolby Atmos can even give a sense of motion sickness. So, through the use of sound, we can impose the same feelings on the viewer that Kirat is experiencing at that exact moment - a very powerful tool in film and TV. To achieve this we needed a longer/consistent sound so the rich synth stem from talented composer Roshan Gunga was ripe for the picking. Tracking the hight movement to the modulation also helped it feel by design. Colourist Katherine Jamieson’s masterful grade heightened each scene of our dramatic recreation, giving it an atmospheric beauty, playing with perspective and adding colour or desaturating images as the story dictated, as well as elevating the kaleidoscope of archive in the series. Dubbing mixer Gerrit Swanepoel made the most of our dramatic score and the wide variety of elements that make up the series, creating an epic and memorable soundscape. This feature-length documentary explores the mystery of the strange whale and asks where he came from, who trained him and why; and what he was doing in a critically important part of the Arctic, close to Russian waters. halo Post Production provided full Picture and Sound Post Production. Dubbing Mixer, John Rogerson said... “This fascinating documentary featuring a Beluga whale rumoured to be a Russian military asset presents a compelling narrative that dives deep into speculation and intrigue. The sound design plays a simple, supportive role in underpinning the audience’s experience, and while there were notable challenges, the whole soundtrack showcases the joys of simplicity. The musical score throughout the documentary was wonderful from the start. It complements the unfolding story beautifully, enhancing emotional moments and creating a sense of wonder. The music varies in tone and intensity, mirroring the narrative’s highs and lows. Each piece is thoughtfully integrated, adding depth and richness to the overall viewing experience. Between the dialogue and the music 90% of this mix was covered. The rest was simple, subtle atmospheres and minimal sound effects to underpin and heighten drama moments.
