About us
Hands On Payroll Giving is a Professional Fundraising Organisation founded in 1994 that assists companies and charities with the set-up, management and promotion of Payroll Giving. As per our name, we are 'Hands On' and run as a family business with Wendy Tapping, Founder and CEO, and her daughter Penny Tapping-Forbes, Digital & Operations Director. Our small team is effective and dedicated to growing Payroll Giving to the benefit of charities nationwide. Payroll Giving is a voluntary scheme that allows employees to donate tax-free from their salary to any charity of their choice. We help with implementing and running Payroll Giving schemes for businesses large and small. We work closely with our clients to maximise employee engagement, and deliver customised online and flexible benefit campaigns. We work in partnership with all UK Payroll Giving Agencies to grow giving in the workplace. We make Payroll Giving accessible for employees to donate to any charity they wish, via a channel they are comfortable with.

The world of recruitment and retaining talent has evolved massively over the past few years. Nowadays, employees are looking for way more than just a great salary and traditional benefits. Employees now want to work for a company that aligns with their values and brings them a sense of purpose in their work. The Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) recently said: '...companies that prioritise purpose in their benefits package can create a more engaged and motivated workforce.' By creating a culture of 'purposeful giving' and integrating charitable initiatives - you'll see a more positive and fulfilled workforce. Building on the work the Charities Aid Foundation has done to support employers with their Give As You Earn (GAYE) schemes, this article describes 4 steps to help you make your employee benefits offering purposeful, using payroll giving: 1. Align charitable giving with your company values 2. Promote payroll giving 3. Enhance your employees' impact with company contributions 4. Let your culture be a differentiator Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/ekgtwUJq

We’re thrilled to share that our latest film, Here for Every Cat’s Journey, has been shortlisted in the 2025 Smiley Charity Film Awards! Our film follows Alfie, an abandoned cat, and highlights the heartbreaking rise that we’ve seen in the number of cats being abandoned. These awards celebrate some of the most impactful and inspiring charity stories of the year, and we’re honoured to be among the finalists. A huge thank you to everyone who voted and helped raise awareness of the vital work we do to support cats and their owners every day. What’s next? Our film now goes to the judges, with the winners to be announced at the awards ceremony on 20 March. Thank you for helping us be there for every cat’s journey. #SmileyCFA25 #CharityFilmAwards #TheSmileys #CFA25

As yesterday was National Love Your Pet Day - we thought we'd share a photo of the wonderful Rory, our office dog! Rory comes to Hands On Payroll Giving HQ every day with Penny and he always cheers everyone up with his great spirit and friendly nature. Although it's not the best when he enjoys a sneaky bin raid, but we'll forgive him! We love having Rory as part of the team and as our HOPG mascot! He is simply lovely. Today is 'International Day of Happiness' so we thought we'd share this insightful article from Happiful about creating everyday healthy moments of dopamine. Sometimes the small tweaks and changes we can make make all the difference. Happiful Magazine says: 'Whether it’s an energetic boost after a workout or a low after a lengthy scroll on Instagram, we’re often unaware of how dopamine dictates our mood. This is because dopamine, a type of hormone and a neurotransmitter, plays a key role in our brain’s reward system.' Healthy dopamine requires effort, discipline and time. But there are ways to realistically and consciously get more of it into our lives. So, how can we enjoy this happy hormone? 1. Move every day 2. Set and achieve small goals 3. Try eating dopamine-boosting foods 4. Practise mindfulness or meditation 5. Spend time in nature 6. Prioritise quality sleep 7. Return to creative activities you used to love Find out more in this great article from Happiful... https://lnkd.in/enAwEwzg Image description: A woman holding a book close to her chest and smiling with her eyes closed. Can you support the official Payroll Giving Month petition? As you know, this month is Payroll Giving Month and we're here to remind you how great Payroll Giving is! Unfortunately, Payroll Giving isn't getting the support and resources it needs. The number of employers offering Payroll Giving has reduced. The number of people giving through Payroll Giving fell 13% between 2020 and 2022. Payroll Giving Month says 'In an era where social responsibility and meaningful support are increasingly valued, we find ourselves at a critical crossroads for charitable giving in the UK. Today, we launch a pivotal petition that could transform how employees support the causes closest to their hearts: a call to reinvigorate and expand Payroll Giving.' We encourage you to share and sign the petition to raise awareness of Payroll Giving as such an important and vital tool to charities in need. The petition calls on all UK employers to: • Demonstrate commitment to social responsibility by offering a Payroll Giving scheme • Make charitable giving accessible and straightforward • Empower their employees to support causes they believe in Find out more about the petition here... https://lnkd.in/eHSMMHdQ
