Yesterday evening I was privileged to join a cancer support group in Leek.
I was there to talk to them about ‘the energy of cancer’.
The group gave me such a warm welcome, and were so open to my different approach to supporting those with cancer, and those whose loved ones have cancer 💞
What struck me about the group, as well as their friendly welcome, was their openness and determination.
As soon as they arrived they were speaking openly about their recent experiences, mostly with the NHS, and how they were feeling today. It was clear to see the tremendous value within the group of their ability to listen to each other and provide a genuine support network. Their knowledge of the health system, medications, treatments and challenges was helpful and informative. This was all so heart-warming, and as I listened at the start of the meeting, I learned so much from them.
What also struck me was the dogged determination within each individual, that ‘do what it takes’ attitude, that strength that can arise from facing a potentially a life-changing diagnosis. Consequently they were open-minded, and eager to understand my work and what they could do to help themselves.
We talked, we shared, we laughed (a lot), and I think it’s fair to say we all learned something.
We learnt about the battle between a healthy immune system and cancer, and also experienced energy assessment and some of the imbalances that typically show up with cancer, finishing off with a brief experiential session and some simple energy exercise to calm the stress response.
If you, or someone you know, is living with cancer, I would recommend connecting with the amazing charity that runs these monthly support groups (there are others aside the Leek one). Check them out and get in touch.
I’m so grateful to have been able to attend and learn so much from this group. Thank you 🙏🏻
