Sizing a DPCV Hattersley DPCVs come in three different spring control ranges: - 5 - 50 kPa for DPCV sizes of DN15 to DN32 - 20 - 100 kPa for DPCV sizes of DN15 to DN50 - 15 - 150 kPa for DPCV sizes of DN65 to DN150. To define what size is required we need to understand; what type of equipment is on the circuit, the number of these units, the rough pressure drop of the circuit the DPCV is intended to protect, and the design flow rate for the circuit. Most of the information the team can get from the schematics however, rough pressure drops may not sometimes be known at the time of enquiry. In this case we would assume 5-50kPa on most radiator circuits, 20-100 kPa for AHUs and UFH manifolds etc, unless advised otherwise. #hattersley #engineeringquestions #engineering

A Spotlight On: PICV Cost Savings PICV's offer cost savings on materials and commissioning time. A PICV replaces 3 valves and time is saved as commissioning a PICV circuit is less labour intensive as traditional static proportional balancing. #hattersley #asktheteam #engineering

Thrilled to support our customers on site with their PICV setup.
Our most recent site visit ended with some happy customers as we were able to provide guidance on the correct set up for Hattersley PICVs on their AHUs and DPCVs for the UFH manifolds. We popped up from the plant room to see how everyone was doing, this chap wasn't quite convinced to take his jumper off and I wasn't going to argue! 🦖 #hattersley #picv #chillydino

Stress Corrosion in Pipework Stress corrosion is the development of cracks in a corrosive environment, which can lead to component failure. For stress corrosion cracking to occur the following factors are needed: 1. A susceptible material 2. Exposure to some level of applied stress 3. A corrosive species within the heating system (such as a substance or liquid) The cracks start very small, known as branch cracking and over time when placed under further stress, the component can no longer cope and material failure occurs. Stress corrosion is not due to poor quality manufacturing but is usually caused by an additive being used within a system that is incompatible with the pipes and fittings. Note: An R indicates that the material is resistant to the named chemical up to the temperature shown, subject to limitations indicated by the footnotes. An "X" indicates that the material is not recommended. #hattersley #stresscorrosion #engineering
