We’re thrilled to be transforming the studio space for Project Art Works, a collective of neurodiverse artists and activists based in Hastings. This refurbishment is all about creating an accessible, state-of-the-art studio space that supports larger workshops, exhibitions, and creative freedom for ALL. From installing new accessible bathrooms to upgrading facades and insulation, we're ensuring this space is safe, energy-efficient, and welcoming for artists and students alike. Fun Fact: During our work under the Linton Road bridge arches, we carried out a UXO survey to detect potentially unexploded wartime bombs – safety first! We can’t wait to see the stunning art that will be created here once the project is complete. Safety is non-negotiable in construction, and face fit testing plays a key role in protecting workers from hazardous materials. At Hawes Construction Group, we’ve invested in ensuring our team is equipped with properly fitting respiratory protective equipment (RPE). What is face fit testing? It ensures that RPE, like reusable and disposable masks, forms a tight seal to prevent exposure to harmful substances. This isn’t just about comfort—it’s a legal requirement under the COSHH Regulations 2002. Sarra is our certified face fit tester! Sarra has completed the Kentec Qualitative Face Fit Training, making sure every mask fits perfectly and complies with safety regulations, keeping our team safe and compliant. We’re not just meeting standards—we’re setting them! From face fit testing to having Sarra as our fire warden, we’re committed to a culture of safety, protecting everyone on-site. 🏗️ Building Bright Futures at Hawes Construction! 🏗️ As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we caught up with three aspiring professionals gaining hands-on experience at Hawes Construction in Eastbourne! Our Vice Principal of Business Development, Donna Harfield, met with Site Carpentry apprentice Matthew Boydell Avery, ESC T-Level student Marley Dann (Design, Surveying & Planning), and Chartered Surveyor & Project Management degree apprentice Molly Wild to hear about their journeys. 🛠️ Matthew shared: “Since I’ve started my apprenticeship, I’ve developed my knowledge of the trade. I’m in the place that I want to be, I’m gaining knowledge every day and it’s the perfect building block to what I’d like to do in the future.” 📐 Marley said: “Everyone at the College and at Hawes have been so supportive, it’s a great environment to work in and I’ve built lots of relationships with people!” 🏗️ Molly added: “For me, the most rewarding part of an apprenticeship is it helps you get where you want to be and pushes you towards your goal.” A huge thank you to the team at Hawes Construction for their continued support of apprenticeships and for providing invaluable opportunities to the next generation of skilled professionals! #NAW2025 #WhyStudyAnywhereElse #ESCG
