Assistant Manager at Headway Nottingham, working with businesses, grant-makers and local individuals.
One of the most amazing things about the network I work in is the people who make it what it is. Attending this year’s Headway Awards was an absolute privilege, celebrating some truly remarkable individuals within the brain injury community. Each of them so deserving of the recognition they received and all of whom by now will have returned to their everyday routines of caring, achieving, volunteering, inspiring, and going the extra mile, far removed from the glitz and glamour of the Awards ceremony. The Headway network is extraordinary and bursting with resilience and dedication and I feel so fortunate to contribute to this incredible collective. I hope that by celebrating the community's tenacity and achievements as loudly as we can, no one facing the challenges of brain injury ever feels alone on their journey. Together we are a huge voice and we have each other's backs. A special shoutout to the phenomenal Ann-Marie Smith from our sister charity, Headway Lincolnshire, who was shortlisted in the Extra Mile category. Honestly, “Extra Mile” doesn’t even begin to cover it—she truly deserved every second of the thunderous applause she received. A big thank you as well to Karen Burgin for hosting us and for being such fantastic company throughout the day!
