  • 𝗔 𝗛𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗬𝗼𝘂! We want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who made our GivingTuesday campaign on December 3rd a resounding success. Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to purchase and donate nine portable ultrasound devices (POCUS) to public hospitals in Venezuela! Last year, we piloted a program by donating three devices to the Razetti Hospital, a leading medical school in Venezuela. Dr. Kate Otto Chebly, a fellow at NYU Grossman School of Medicine based in Caracas, led the training sessions. She translated the NYU curriculum into Spanish and trained a group of 16 internal medicine doctors, who graduated earlier this year. A post-training assessment showed that the Razetti-trained doctors were just as skilled in using POCUS as those trained by NYU. This groundbreaking technology has revolutionized Venezuela's Internal Medicine Curriculum, now incorporating portable ultrasounds. For a small charity like Healing Venezuela, this is a significant and lasting impact. Most importantly, over 1,200 low-income patients have already benefited from this life-saving technology, which enables quick and accurate diagnoses. Thank you again for your incredible support! And if you want to keep supporting us, please visit our website https://lnkd.in/e-xrzzyi. #healingvenezuela #NYU #POCUS #HumanitarianAid #Venezuela #Donate #SDGs

This year, we're focusing on saving lives in Venezuela. With your support, we can donate portable ultrasounds (POCUS) to hospitals in need. These life-saving devices can diagnose and treat patients in remote areas and emergencies. Last year, we made a difference: We donated three ultrasounds, trained 19 specialists, and more than 300 patients benefited from this. Your donation can help us do even more! • EVERY WOMAN HAS THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE The humanitarian crisis in Venezuela has left devastating consequences, especially for women's health. The alarming increase in maternal mortality and adolescent pregnancies, often a result of abuse or lack of access to contraceptives, is a reflection of this reality. Since 2018, Healing Venezuela, in collaboration with ALAPLAF, has worked tirelessly to empower Venezuelan women. Thanks to our reproductive health programme which includes awareness and unplanned pregnancy prevention, more than 2,500 women have taken control of their reproductive health. This year, we expanded our work by supporting expectant mothers with limited resources. We donated maternity kits, including everything necessary for a safe and healthy delivery, to 240 women. Thanks to our programme, mothers and children are all well. However, we have identified 80 women who wish to plan their families. Some are teenagers, others have more children than they can care for and lack financial stability. Please help us ensure these women can make informed decisions about their future by having access to safe and quality contraceptives, empowering them to build a better future. • 𝗤𝟯 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦𝗟𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥 At the end of each quarter, we give an update on our activities during the past 3 months. Despite the ongoing political turmoil following the July 28th presidential elections, we continued working to serve Venezuela's most vulnerable. Below is a summary of our accomplishments over this difficult period. 🧑⚕️HEALTH - JUNIOR DOCTORS Fernanda felt incredibly fortunate when she was granted a Healing Venezuela scholarship. "𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵, 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘶𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺...𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘋𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 2024, 𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘮𝘺 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘰𝘯!" Fernanda is one of the 60 junior doctors we sponsor. During the past quarter, they attended 𝟯𝟯,𝟲𝟵𝟭 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. 💦CLEAN WATER & SANITATION Water quality in Venezuela is very poor, often carrying harmful diseases. One of our key programmes is providing potable water to Venezuelan hospitals. We keep expanding the capacity of our plants reaching critical areas such as emergency, delivery and surgery rooms. This past quarter these systems produced more than 85,000 litres of water 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟳,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲. 🥗FOOD SECURITY Our food security programme targets impoverished areas, such as the village of Guaraunos where we feed 100 children during the school period. During the summer holidays, 𝘄𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟯𝟱 𝘃𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻, 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟵,𝟵𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 🤰FAMILY PLANNING  Healing Venezuela has been dedicated to promoting family planning and reproductive health since 2018. • 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲? Healing Venezuela is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable Venezuelans. We focus on high-impact public health interventions that address pressing needs. Our work is grounded in a first-hand understanding of the challenges faced by Venezuelans, allowing us to deliver effective and impactful programs. We partner with local organizations and healthcare providers to ensure our services reach those who most need them. One of our most successful programmes is our reproductive health initiative. Since 2018, we have helped over 2,579 women access reproductive health care. This includes providing contraception, prenatal care, and support for safe childbirth. In 2024 alone, we distributed essential kits to 240 women, enabling them to give birth safely and reduce the risk of complications. One newborn's life was saved as a direct result of our intervention.  However, the situation in Venezuela remains dire. Many of our beneficiaries are minors, victims of sexual abuse, or living in poverty and overcrowded conditions. The maternal mortality rate has increased by 65%, with 75% of victims being teenagers. Your support is crucial to our mission. By donating just $50, you can help us provide life-saving care to vulnerable women and children in Venezuela, a very effective way to save lives and end the poverty cycle. • 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 At Healing Venezuela, we are committed to ensuring our operations are conducted with the highest transparency, accountability, and efficiency standards. To achieve this, we have implemented robust governance. One of the key components of good governance is verification. At Healing Venezuela we have systems of verifications such as key performance indicators, internal audits, and, crucially, on-the-ground verifications of our operations. Apart from the team we have in Venezuela who are constantly communicating with our beneficiaries, every opportunity our volunteers or the board members have to travel, at our own expense, to Venezuela, we take the time to visit the hospitals and people we work with. It's highly rewarding and is also another way to demonstrate our commitment to transparency and good governance in our charity work. #healingvenezuela #health #governance #verification #accountability #transparency #charity #nonprofit #humanitariancrisis #venezuela #SDGs
