Events like the St Albans Sleepout play a valuable role in raising valuable funds that will directly help prevent homelessness in the young people in Hertfordshire. "It was a fantastic night with more than 200 sleepers from local companies, schools, families and community groups, all taking on the challenge of sleeping out to raise vital funds to end youth homelessness. We are absolutely delighted to share that the event has currently raised a staggering £42,000 with donations still steadily coming in. We couldn't have raised this incredible amount without the support from businesses like yourselves and everyone taking part so a huge thank you from all of us at hyh. This will make a huge difference to the many young people facing homelessness in Hertfordshire and in need of our services." Her friend, Jane, has led a heartfelt tradition for the past 16 years, organizing friends to create and maintain 10 street memorials across the town centre. These memorials pay tribute to those who left their homes and never returned, ensuring their memories are honored in the streets where they once lived. In places like Fishpool Street and Lower Dagnall Street, groups of locals come together to observe a two-minute silence on remembrance days, speaking the names on the memorials to keep their stories alive. After weeks of campaigning, the general election is done. The worst-kept secret of 2024 is out. We have a new Labour government in the UK, with the party winning by a landslide. Maybe you’re pleased, disappointed or not that bothered. But the fact the election is done ought to be good news for the market. Property markets don’t like uncertainty. So, after months of ‘will they-won’t they’, we now have a much better idea of what the government will be doing over the next five years. History often shows that property markets tend to pick up after elections – whatever the result. This could mean that, once the summer hols are over, there could be a bounce in the market, maybe we may even have a short bounce in the window post-election pre summer hols?
