  • Last Tuesday (19th November), the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) celebrated its 30th anniversary. This milestone offers a perfect opportunity to reflect on the brilliant ways the Heritage Fund has supported our mission to conserve and celebrate Lincolnshire’s rich heritage 🎉 Since our founding in 1988, the NLHF has been instrumental in enabling our work in building conservation, archaeological fieldwork and more. Whilst it's impossible to list every achievement made possible by their support, here are some standout examples... ⭐With NLHF support, we’ve embarked on the exciting journey of Reimagining Greyfriars - a project which will breathe new life into the Grade II listed building in lower Lincoln. In partnership with City of Lincoln Council Reimagining Greyfriars will restore and transform the forgotten building into a multifunctional venue space. Work is now underway at Greyfriars and we couldn't be more excited. ⭐At the start of 2024 we celebrated the completion of the Boston Townscape Heritage project (THP) in partnership with Boston Borough Council. Over the course of 4 years, this initiative revitalised Boston’s historic heart through a series of shopfront schemes, public realm works and community projects. ⭐We're proud to be a part of the The Architectural Heritage Fund's Heritage Development Trust Programme, which has been made possible with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. The programme brings together local people to help reimagine the heritage buildings that tell the story of their communities. Here’s to 30 incredible years of partnership with NLHF, and to many more years of conserving the stories and sites that make our communities unique. Thank you NLHF for enabling us to continue this vital work. 🔗Read more about how the NLHF has supported the work we do below: https://lnkd.in/edFpM4ym The National Lottery Heritage Fund #30YearsOfNLHF #NLHF #ThanksToLotteryPlayers #ReimaginingGreyfriars #BostonTownscapeHeritageProject #HeritageDevelopmentTrusts Greyfriars, Lincoln

  • Thank you to everyone who has shared questions with us over the last week. We want people to join the conversation and get involved in helping to shape a future use for the café space at the Old King's Head, as our Chair Charles Pinchbeck said: “Together, we can look for solutions that respect both the building’s legacy and the community’s needs.” 💡 We've shared answers to your questions below: Q. When will the Cafe's last day of operation be? Sunday 24th November. Q. Why are you doing this? Regrettably, we have had to shut the café operation as it has become clear over the last year that despite our best efforts, it is no longer financially viable for our charity to run the operation in the current financial climate. Q. What have you done to try and keep The Old King's Head Cafe open? Over the last year, we have made extensive efforts to adapt and improve the cafe's financial sustainability, including exploring different operating models and activities. Q. Does this affect the rest of the Old King's Head operation? No, the accommodation is unaffected by the closure of the café and will continue to operate as usual, welcoming visitors to Kirton. Q. What happens next? We invite you to join the conversation about potential future uses to complement the building's heritage whilst enhancing its role in the community. We hope to see The Old King's Head Cafe continue to contribute to local life under a new operator. Q. How can I get involved? We will be hosting a community meeting after the Old King's Head Cafe's last operating day which we will share more details over the next few weeks. But if you have further questions for us, please do get in touch with our team: htladmin@heritagelincolnshire.org Q. How do I find out more? Go to https://lnkd.in/e6sUWebb

  • Amongst the four Lincolnshire sites now added to the 2024 Heritage at Risk Register is Hussey Tower! 🏰 As you may be aware, the medieval tower has been the victim of vandalism and damage for several years. Not only has this significantly impacted its historic fabric but the community’s ability to experience the site. Thanks to a grant of £26,119 from Historic England we’ve been able to kickstart the journey to protecting and celebrating Hussey Tower and its place in medieval Boston’s history once again. “We are so grateful to Historic England and Boston Borough Council from providing the funding for us to repair the building and work in partnership with Boston College to promote heritage skills and change the narrative about the site.’ Alice Ullathorne, Head of Heritage at Heritage Lincolnshire. 👏👏👏 Find out more about the HAR Register below ⬇️
