The new Construction Skills Centre for Nottingham College is now complete and open to students! Delivered through the Pagabo Medium Works Framework, the 1,500m² building comprises a large double height construction trades workshop, as well as additional classrooms, a smaller modern construction workshop and associated staff and support facilities. The new build specialist centre offers flexible teaching and learning facilities to support the curriculum and estate objectives of the college, meeting the growing need to provide training for construction skilled trades in the local area. A total of £1.8m Social Value Added was generated through the scheme via the following: ⭐ organised site visits, regular newsletters and career talks with students from nearby schools ⭐ 1,669 apprentice hours ⭐ 44.5 apprentice weeks ⭐ 779 student engagements ⭐ Two-day workshop designing and building bird boxes with Nottingham College students Sustainability was an integral part of the project, with initiatives comprising: ✔️ 60 PV Panels ✔️ Three air source heat pumps ✔️ 79% of local labour was sourced within a 20-mile radius ✔️ 81% local spend within 20 miles of the site ✔️ 100% waste recycled and diverted from landfill The scheme is the first of two major projects we have worked on this year with the College. The Centre for Employment and Independent Living for Students with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities (The Gateway) is close to completion. EDGE is thrilled to share the completion of the Construction Skills Centre at Nottingham College. 👷♀️ This new build facility, valued at £6.5 million, features a large double-height workshop, classrooms, and staff and support facilities tailored for their construction trades curriculum. The project, which was completed on Monday 28th October, was lead by Associate Director Joanne Hardwicke and Project Manager Zarina Gaskin.
