Bringing Good Intentions To Life We’re a charity with an infectious sense of fun and a serious, we have very generous leaders with knowledge of what it takes to build charities that can endure and succeed. With the generous help of our partners in the business community we’re able to highlight the challenges facing local charities and source the tools to fix them. As long as we know we can make a difference, we’ll do all we can to help. Our approachability and proactive attitude, combined with our in-depth knowledge, make us the ‘go-to’ destination for charity advice and support in Hull and East Yorkshire. Positive energy is the glue that binds us, and the fuel that drives us. This event at EDGE is aimed at all VCSE groups and organisations working in Hull and the East Riding and is an opportunity to start to think about how we work more closely together in the future.     Become a Trustee of The Alcohol and Drug Service The Alcohol and Drug Service is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Board of Trustees. We are looking for passionate, committed people to help guide our organisation's mission of supporting those affected by substance misuse to make positive change. This is an exciting time to join the recovery sector with the new government committing to continue support and funding for the current national drug (and alcohol) strategy roll-out. As a Trustee, you will: - Provide strategic direction and oversight - Ensure sound financial management - Contribute your unique skills and experience - Help shape our services and impact We particularly welcome applications from individuals with senior experience in: - Legal expertise. We are seeking a Board secretary probably with a corporate background to steer the Board on matters of the articles of association, statutory duties and responsibilities/compliance. - The health and social care sector - The charity sector Time commitment: Approximately 1 day per month, including five board meetings per year. The posts are Non Executive Directors, expenses are paid but no salary or other payment is offered. No prior trustee experience is necessary - we provide full induction and training.     HMPPS are piloting a Small Grants Scheme for awarding individual grants to VCSE organisations, but you need to act fast! These opportunities are to deliver music and drama activities at HMP Leeds and HMP Hull. The application process is open from 6 January to 19 January 2025. Up to £10,000 is available per grant. • HMP Hull (Music activities): Provide learners with a creative outlet for emotions and promote mindfulness. • HMP Hull (Drama workshops): Explore substance misuse triggers through impactful workshops. • HMP Leeds (Music talent platform): Support development through rap, song writing, and live performance. Taking place on Wednesday 5 February at the Mercure Hotel, Willerby, between 1pm and 6.30pm, services, providers and teams across children and adult specialist services will highlight what is available to families. The event is scheduled on the eve of International Women's Day, a celebration that businesses across our region are passionate about. Ladies Lunch is a tribute to incredible women and recognises the immense talent they contribute to our region.
