I often hear 'Why would we use a recruiter when we can fill this role ourselves?' My answer: 'We can save you bucket loads of time, so you can get on with the important role of running your company!'. Here at HeyLuna we have a bank of absolutely incredible commercial professionals across Sales, Marketing, HR and Finance open to hearing about their next challenge. Many of the businesses we work with are in scale up phase. They need to trust that their external talent partner knows what good looks like, and can make the hiring process speedy and streamlined. How do we do this here at HeyLuna? We video interview and shortlist strong matches to company needs. You will receive a curated shortlist of 3-5 professionals within 48 hours. If they aren't decent matches, perhaps we are not the right people to fill your role. Listen enough to your client, and the chances are, they will be.

I have recently worked with an awesome start up helping them to find a Customer Success professional. When I asked the client about how they work, they said 'we're remote first, people can work from wherever they like, we have an office space if they'd like to use it, and we meet every 6-8 weeks for a 2 day retreat to come together if at all possible.' EXCELLENT. This was music to my ears. As a parent myself, I felt like this option could really suit, with notice, I would look forward to planning the two day work retreats every 8 weeks as a welcome break from my day-to-day without compromising my children's needs. Fully flexible, with a lovely working pattern making sure the team stay focussed whilst also looking forward to coming together to share ideas, work and gel as a team with a shared mission.

I never posted about this on LinkedIn before, because sometimes I've had this feeling that a) It's now been over written about b) If I do put it out there, perhaps it will put perspective clients off c) Somewhere in my judgemental head it may seem like I am losing the ability to be top of my game.  I had a baby last summer. My second baby. It was wonderful and magical and the HARDEST thing I have ever done delivering on our kitchen floor. Why am I saying this? Because recently I had a conversation with a brilliant Senior level CPO who I really respect. This person has massively helped me on my journey whilst starting HeyLuna. She is utterly professional, a complete powerhouse, amazing attention to detail and completely dedicated to her work. We have never mentioned children to each other on calls, it's always professional. This particular day, I picked up the phone and we got chatting about a recruitment need coming up in her team. Then my baby starts bawling in the background. I felt completely helpless, totally unprofessional and a little ashamed (I know I shouldn't but it happened, I'm human). My partner works away most of the time, so I often fly solo and work at the same time. Having never had the conversation that I have children with this person I had to explain I was really sorry and that I would have to call her back as soon as I could. Her answer 'Don't worry at all, go to your babe and call me back whenever works for you'. RELIEF. I could tell in her voice she really meant this, no judgement, no tinge of annoyance, just complete flexibility in her approach. This type of flexibility should be the norm if we want females to have equality in the workplace. Sadly, just by the feelings that arose in me during the call, I can assure you it is not. The message here: Be flexible. Be TRULY AND TOTALLY FLEXIBLE and you will be rewarded with the best, hardest most loyal workers out there. I know, because I'm one of those. Thanks Romanie Thomas for showing me this from day 1 of meeting you. I have taken this forward with me into HeyLuna

Getting an intro email/call from a client who is recommending HeyLuna's service to another client is one of the best things that happens in my job. Why? Because it means I've done a good job for that client. They have had a good service from me, but also I now get the privilege of working with a new business. Building a new relationship and opening new doors. It sounds cringe, but this is the best part of my role. Thank you to all my loyal customers. I truly value working with you.

I've recently posted about how great it is to recruit for a super responsive business. It's the best. It keeps processes streamlined for all parties, and strong professionals engaged in the process too, which leads to stronger hires. The other thing which keeps professionals engaged? SALARY. PAY PEOPLE FAIRLY FOR THEIR SKILLS. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of businesses I speak to who have a senior role they'd like filled, wonder why they haven't filled it (or have, and have had to let the person go) and then let me know the salary. Usually it's because they are underpaying. And not just by £2-5K. Usually about £10-20K. If you expect a certain level of professional, you need to be prepared to pay market rate. HeyLuna are always happy to advise on this if necessary.
