About us
Highgate Counselling Centre (HCC) is a registered charity and an organisational member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Based in Highgate, North London, HCC is the longest standing counselling provider charity in the UK, providing counselling services for over 60 years. Our main aims are to provide: 1) Accessible counselling for the majority 2) An accessible gateway into the counselling profession via the accredited and widely recognised training. HCC offers BACP accredited Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and a Certificate in Counselling Skills, as an Introduction to Counselling, in addition to a developing Continuing Professional Development Programme (CPD). We offer counselling services face to face, from our clinic in Highgate Village (North London) and remotely. Our Services: • Long-term Psychodynamic counselling • Short-term counselling • Low-fee counselling • Systemic couple and family counselling • Bereavement counselling • A dedicated fund for low cost counselling for carers of those suffering with dementia HCC adheres to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy’s Codes of Ethics and Practice.

We will be holding an open day for our Certificate in Counselling course on Saturday, 8th February 2025! Successful completion of this level 3 equivalent course or a similar training is mandatory for entry onto our Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling, which is accredited by the BACP. Join us for our first CPD workshop of 2025! Mentalisation Based Treatment (MBT) is psychodynamically-orientated and has been manualised with a focus in helping people to understand their own thoughts and feelings and why they do what they do and to help people to understand what others might be thinking and feeling and how come they might behave in the ways that they do. The workshop is as an introduction to MBT and is not designed to enable participants to practice MBT.
