Very glad to have the chance to join the High Impact Medicine podcast! They're a great organisation that's been pretty pivotal in my own recent career decisions, helping to maximise the positive impact I have with my career. Syphilis infection during pregnancy can be so devastating for newborns - but the goods news is that this is a public health problem that can be fixed! If you'd like to hear more about my work at Healthy Futures to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of syphilis, have a listen: https://lnkd.in/g7Twx9xT

Last weekend, we had a wonderful, small in-person conference (https://lnkd.in/emuTMMTq) in Bern, Switzerland, with inspiring speakers (tagging Jasper Götting as an example, as he's featured in this picture with his talk on biosecurity, one of High Impact Medicine's focus areas). We also had, among others, Jonathan Leighton speaking on the ethics of suffering and David McKinney speaking on reducing microbial resistance. Thanks to everyone who made this day so special and to our lead volunteer, Claudia Reichmuth ✨

A big shout-out to Moneer Moukaddem, one of Hi-Med's Advisory Board members. He proactively offered to share his knowledge on how to run better meetings with our team and facilitated this month's Hi-Med internal skill-sharing session (last month's was facilitated by Vyshnavi Desiraju and Marie Firgau 🔸 on the topic of suicide prevention) 🏥 Let's continue to learn from each other and accelerate our growth! If you're a medical doctor or medical student interested in how to increase your positive impact - reach out to join our community 💫 https://lnkd.in/erYkJpgR
Just wrapped up a Roundspeak training with the brilliant minds at High Impact Medicine (Hi-Med)! 🚀 We explored how to hold team meetings in that mysterious 'efficiency zone' where engagement meets productivity. Key takeaways: 🗣️ Speak in ordered rounds - like a circular firing squad, but with ideas! 🔊 Everyone gets a voice - sayonara, silent dissenters! ⏭️ 'Pass' option saves time while maintaining equal participation 🤝 Decisions by consent - win-win is the new majority 📅 Shared agenda ownership - democracy in action, folks 🎯 4 agenda point 'types' - because the opposite of structure is ..... But the jury's still out on whether Roundspeak can be scaled for larger teams. 10+ people in a round? That's a lot of passes! 😅 Shout out to Bruce Tsai, Clare Diane Harris, Isabel Meusel, Marie Firgau 🔸, Markus Schirmer, and Vyshnavi Desiraju 🙌 #EffectiveLeadership #EffectiveMeetings #Roundspeak #HighImpactMed
