🚨 New NPSA & NaCTSO Guidance on Temporary Vehicle Security Barriers 🚨 Have you seen the latest update from the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA) and National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO)? On Friday, the NPSA and NaCTSO released a new publication: "Considerations for Temporary Vehicle Security Barriers" detailing new guidance for the use of HVM barriers. One key takeaway? A truly effective temporary barrier must: ✅ Stop a high-speed vehicle attack ✅ Withstand repetitive ramming in the same formation The guidance states: "For a temporary barrier, it should have passed both a 'high-speed impact' and 'repetitive ramming test' to reduce risk to as low as reasonably practicable". This is particularly important information for event organisers, security officers and local authorities. However, most temporary HVM barriers on the market protect against one of these threats—but not both. Around 1 in 4 people experience mental health challenges each year, making it the second biggest contributor to ill health. Yesterday, the third Monday of January, commonly known as ‘Blue Monday’, is said to be the most depressing day of the year. This is due to factors such as the dark weather, post-Christmas financial strain and returning to work after the festive period. At this often-difficult time of year, we, like many others, turned Blue Monday into #BrewMonday! ☕💚 Brew Monday is an event created by the charity Samaritans. It encourages us to pause and connect with the people we care about. It’s a wonderful reminder to make time for meaningful conversations. During our Brew Monday event we heard a powerful story from one of our team members who was suddenly unable to work due to illness and has recently returned to work. Adi shared his story with us, along with the strain this difficult time took on his mental health, how his work colleagues supported him during his recovery and what a big difference it made. The team came together to hear Adi's story, whilst having a catch up and a brew! This time of year can be challenging for many, but it's important to prioritise our mental health all year round and to keep talking about how we’re feeling.
