About us

We are the charity who love and look after Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, Tower of London, the Banqueting House, Kew Palace, and Hillsborough Castle and Gardens. Our cause is to stir every spirit, to inspire and provoke change. Each of the palaces in our care has survived for hundreds of years. They have witnessed peace and prosperity and splendid periods of building and expansion, but they also share stories of more turbulent times, of war and domestic strife, politics and revolution. The palaces are owned by The King on behalf of the nation. However, we raise all our own funds and depend on the support of our visitors, members, donors, sponsors and volunteers.

This has been our biggest and best Halloween yet at Hampton Court! Our public engagement teams have done amazing work transforming our Palace into a Halloween fantasy/nightmare - these installations just get more and more inventive. Visitors are loving the ghosts as well! We’ve welcomed almost 30,000 visitors so far… and there’s still one more day to go! Our front facing teams have been asbolute heroes and they love watching our visitors have such a great time. So if you have a free Sunday tomorrow… pop down for your last and best scare of the year! 👻

It has been a busy and exciting season for the events team at Kensington Palace. Between May and October we witnessed some spectacular weddings. It has been a pleasure working alongside fantastic wedding planners and Historic Royal Palace's approved suppliers to host six wonderful couples. Myself and the team are incredibly proud of these events. We hope you enjoy having a peek into the types of wedding celebrations Kensington Palace has hosted this year. We want to share with you our Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan for 2024-2027! Being a charity for everyone means acting not just for those who currently experience our sites but also for those in future generations. This means responding to our impact on both climate change and nature loss and ensuring our buildings, collections and staff are resilient to the changes already upon us. Historic Royal Palaces will achieve nature-positive, carbon net zero by 2050, and our 2024-2027 Action Plan (link below) sets out the foundations to achieve this, including: Reducing our energy consumption and removing fossil fuels from our sites. Understanding the health and biodiversity on our sites and acting to protect and enhance it. Reducing our water consumption and finding new ways to harvest and store rainwater. Reducing our waste and exploring viable options within a circular economy. Improving our data collection so we can measure our progress more accurately. Working in partnership with other organisations to drive change more broadly. To learn more about our Action Plan, click on the link below. https://lnkd.in/efjABnWg

Poppy Fields at the Tower: An immersive sound and light show. This November, over the Remembrance period, join us at the Tower of London for this poignant and moving sound and light experience, Poppy Fields at the Tower. Historic Royal Palaces have partnered with Luxmuralis to present an incredible installation that will take visitors on a journey through specially created sound and light projections. Experience the tower-illuminated! The projections will feature artwork reflecting on the First World War and Second World War that will transform the architecture of the iconic Tower buildings. You'll also experience special after-hours access to see the Crown Jewels without the usual crowds.   This unique show will create space for visitors to remember those who lost their lives in the conflicts, as well as those who served. It will also look forward to exploring the collective desire for peace. Exclusively at the Tower of London, the show has been adapted to include images from Historic Royal Palaces’ own collections, creating a unique artwork that reflects the historic site. Running for only nine nights in November, don't miss your chance to commemorate the lives lost in the wars in this stirring and evocative sound and light show. https://lnkd.in/enEcXpjg

On an early Tuesday in June, a day the Palace is closed to the public during school term time, the palace welcomed a large-scale event with over 650 guests. Our incredible actors from HistoryRiot greeted guests at Seymour Gate before they continued with them through the palace for their private tour, visiting exclusively the most famous rooms of Henry VIII, from the Great Hall to the Tudor Kitchens and the eerie Haunted Gallery. After the tour, guests descended the King's Staircase to the beautiful Orangery, which offers entry to the Privy Garden. There, guests enjoyed a drinks reception on the garden terrace, followed by a delicious two-course lunch seated in the beautiful garden of William III's Baroque Privy Garden, which was created in 1702. The same week, the palace hosted the Hampton Court Music Festival; what a busy day for the events team. It's amazing to see what Hampton Court Palace has to offer when it comes to life!

Hosting a lunch in the Privy Garden at Hampton Court Palace has been on my bucket list, since I started at Historic Royal Palaces. Thanks to Spectra DMC and their fabulous American client, I managed to tick this wish off… with a big tick. ✔ Last month, on what seems like the only sunny day we had, we welcomed over 650 guests for a fabulous outdoor lunch, tours of the palace, and wonderful entertainment. This event was over a year in the planning…. and even with the stress of the British weather, was well worth the wait! Thank you to the amazing Hampton Court Palace events team, and all the incredible suppliers who made this happen! 💐 ☀ 🥂 Venue: Historic Royal Palaces – Hampton Court Palace Catering: Payne & Gunter Production: HRP Event Solutions        Florist: Pinstripes & Peonies Ltd Umbrellas: Sunbrella Hire Ltd  Catering marquee: Perfect Pitch Photographer: Xander Casey Entertainment: HistoryRiot Entertainment: Sternberg Clarke Entertainment
