  • Join History Hit on a team passion day 🎥 💥 The SVOD team stepped away from the usual screens, studios and shoots for a team day out at the Imperial War Museums in London. A highlight of the visit was War and the Mind, a thought-provoking exhibition exploring war’s psychological impact - from the motivations behind conflict to the ways people process and endure its effects. As a team dedicated to storytelling, it's a powerful reminder of the depth behind the narratives we share. Taking time to learn, reflect, and experience history together strengthens not just our understanding, but also our team. #history #team #imperialwarmuseum #content #digital #production

  • Exciting news! Our very own Dr Kate Lister, host of Betwixt the Sheets: Sex, Scandal & Society, has been shortlisted for Broadsheet Columnist of the Year at the 2025 Press Awards for her brilliant work at The i Paper! 🏆💥 Kate is one of the most exciting and fearless voices writing today. Whether she’s challenging deep-seated assumptions about ADHD, tackling the realities of being a woman, or unpacking the absurdities of modern life with her trademark wit, her work is, in her own words, all about “saying the quiet bit out loud.” At History Hit, we know firsthand the depth of Kate’s expertise, curiosity and fearless storytelling - from uncovering history’s untold stories on Betwixt the Sheets to challenging narratives in her films. • History isn't just about people... 🐕 🐶 We love exploring the past from fresh perspectives - and sometimes, that means handing the spotlight to unexpected stars. From bloodhounds tracking fugitives in Tudor England to poodles retrieving crossbow bolts, dogs have been more than just companions; they’ve been hunters, workers and even status symbols. In our latest documentary series, Mike Loades takes a deep dive into the history of dogs: their roles, their stories, and their enduring partnership with humans. It’s always a pleasure working with Mike, whose immersive approach brings the past to life in ways our audiences love. And yes, we’re always open to working with new talent… even the four-legged kind 🐕 Watch the first part of the series 'Dogs: Our Shared History' on History Hit now 📺 #historyhit #dogs #digital #documentary #content #film #tudor

History Hit’s Not Just the Tudors podcast heads to the Science Museum in London for a special episode exploring the 'Versailles: Science and Splendour exhibition' 🔬✨ Running until April 2025, this exhibition reveals the lesser-known role of Versailles as a hub of scientific discovery and innovation in the 17th and 18th centuries. More than just a palace of opulence, Versailles was a centre of learning where science and power intertwined. Host Suzannah Lipscomb and producer Robert Weinberg visited the exhibition and its myriad treasures including: Louis XV’s actual rhinoceros, a remarkably detailed moon map, and the world’s most famous watch - designed for Marie Antoinette herself 🍰 A special episode of Not Just the Tudors will provide an unmissable deep dive into the scientific ambitions of the French court. With Prof Suzannah Lipscomb featuring associate curator Matthew Howles will be released on 13 February 🎧 Thank you to the Science Museum Group 🙌 #notjustthetudors #versailles #scienceandsplendour #podcast #history #innovation #digital #sciencemuseum

What happens when two storytelling powerhouses collide? A wildly creative crossover, a fresh audience, and a chance to work with the best in the industry. At Betwixt the Sheets, we love diving into some of history’s most scandalous stories, and this time, we’ve teamed up with Cautionary Tales (Pushkin Industries) for an episode listeners won’t forget. Quack doctors have made some incredible promises throughout history… but what good would a goat testicle transplant do for you? Kate Lister joins Tim Harford on Cautionary Tales to uncover the bizarre (and slightly horrifying) tale of a so-called medical pioneer who took creative thinking way too far. This collaboration is a perfect example of how combining forces leads to something bigger - more creativity, new listeners and the joy of working with true industry pros like the team at Pushkin. Not possible without the hard work of Charlotte Long, Tomos Delargy and Stuart Beckwith Listen here and watch this teaser below! https://lnkd.in/eM8X52uu #PodcastCrossover #CreativeStorytelling #BetwixtTheSheets #CautionaryTales #PushkinIndustries

History Hit were extended a special invitation by the Counter Extremism Project (CEP) who have recently purchased the house once occupied by Rudolf Höss, the Commandant of Auschwitz, and his family. On Holocaust Memorial Day (27 January 2025) Dan Snow, Mariana Des Forges and Joe Greenway visited the house along with global delegates to record an extended podcast episode for Dan Snow’s History Hit and special documentary for the History Hit YouTube channel about Rudolf Höss, his role in the Holocaust, and what his former house tells us about the banality of evil. The house had been a private residence until 2024 when it was acquired by the Counter Extremism Project who intend to turn the house into a centre to combat hate. The house remains largely as it was when the Höss family lived there, with artefacts found by the organisation just months ago, including: an SS mug, beer bottles, a newspaper from 1944, and a pair of prisoner’s striped trousers stuffed into a hole in the attic to block a leak. History Hit will follow the search by the organisation and the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum to trace the story of the trousers' owner, as well as creating more content exploring the history of the Holocaust with these key organisations. As survivors slowly disappear, it’s more important than ever to keep documenting the greatest atrocity of the 20th century for future generations. Watch Dan’s visit to the house on the History Hit YouTube channel here: https://lnkd.in/ev8SE6eA And listen to the podcast to learn more about Höss and the German Jewish investigator Hanns Alexander, who brought him to justice: https://rb.gy/p0mr75
