  • It has been a privilege to collaborate with the Museum team on the new visual Identity. This is a museum for the future, built on rich foundations of the past. Working alongside this institution and getting to know the collection, highlighted for us that we need Museums more than ever. We do all live under the same sky. We want to inspire, engage and enable people to enjoy, understand and care for the diversity of the natural world. The Museum advances scientific understanding of the natural world, to help citizens make knowledge based decisions for a sustainable future. Positive change for people and planet by empowering people to connect with nature and each other. Our design supports the museum and invites everyone on a journey to explore the wonders of science and nature. A walk through the Suffolk countryside sparked our idea for Birdsong. Being alone in nature, surrounded by silence that was punctuated by the sounds of the birds singing nearby. A curious mind can’t help but wonder who is making that sound? Of course birds never sit still for long, and one never really gets to see the culprit – just a fleeting glimpse of their distinctive colour. Birdsong became our way of identifying a bird by their telltale song. Each call creates its own unique soundwave that we recreated as a series of graphic patterns, each one specific to the sound and colour of its species – and through motion we mimic the way a bird dances through the sky with a brief flash of colour. Birdsong is available as a series of 12 postcards, and a tea towel that brings the birds of the British countryside together. Natural History Museum Denmark unique location at the heart of a botanical garden was one of the key inspirations for our visual identity – and gave birth to our leaf design system. Our core colour palette became lush shades of green, that when paired with the leaf shape opened up endless opportunities to create patterns and texture – directly representing the beautiful landscape that the museum calls home. The tessellation pattern becomes a geometric representation of the leaves on the trees and by rotating the shape we created intricate floral motifs to capture the garden in full bloom. Holmes Studio. • We are delighted to launch the visual identity for the multi award-winning master of experimental percussion DOMNIQ. Holmes Studio created a brand to match the experimental and eclectic nature of DOMNIQ’s creative output. At its core, the identity utilises kineticism to activate the typographic mark. It could be loud and experimental – representing his innovative electronic music – but could also become refined and poised, mirroring DOMNIQ’s classical influences and training. Through motion, the brand is able to respond to its environment or sound, distorting and transforming to create endless variations and ways to surprise. We are delighted to share our work with The Fitzwilliam Museum on the opening of their thematic rehang, in their beautiful newly refurbished galleries. We worked with them to share the stories within their exciting new redisplay – through interpretation and 3D design – telling the story of surprising and imaginative connections between historic, modern and contemporary paintings, in a bold and inclusive way. Our design is routed in giving all a way into these incredible stories, guided by themes of identity, nature, interiors and more. See their much-loved and iconic artworks from their collection alongside brand-new acquisitions, many of which are displayed for the very first time. Now open. Well done Holmes Studio, Richard B., Alex G., Clare Summerfield, Nina E. and Wayne M.
