Day 26. Let me tell you how it’s going. It’s been 26 days since I have worn my beautiful crown - my headscarf. Here’s my experience for the last 26 days. ➤ I have never felt as sophisticated as I do wearing the headscarf! It’s truly such versatile yet humble attire ➤ Everyone knows I love my suits/blazers, and let me tell you- a scarf makes my suits look 100% more classy (example pics pending upload). ➤ I feel more confident in myself. I’ve always been very modest and now I get to be my truth authentic self ➤ In the first few days I wondered what others thought. Then I realised I don’t actually care. It’s a free world, I’m happy with my choice. ➤ I feel I am representing other women in business who wear a headscarf. Together we’re smashing boundaries and stereotypes. ➤ I work 10x harder to be a “good human”. If I’m going to visually represent Islam, I need to ensure I do it justice. Say less words, show them what it’s really about. ➤ I realised it’s so usual and common and nobody actually cares 😂 The reason why I post is this: ⌦ If you’ve been contemplating doing something but fear/confusion/uncertainty is stopping you, do it anyway. You’ll be surprised of the outcome. ⌦ Educate and learn about things you don’t know much about. ⌦ Don’t be afraid to live life to your values. Others don’t have to agree, and you don’t have to agree to their values. But you do have to be a good human. ⌦ Experiment! Don’t be afraid to try new things. I NEVER thought I’d ever be in a headscarf, so I certainly surprised myself! ⌦ Be open about your story. There’s a whole lot more I can say but that’s for another post. All in all, I’ve had a wonderful experience but do I think of that small 1% of of Islamophobic people who might treat me differently? Not as much as I used to. Does it stop me being who I want to be? Nope.

I said it, dismiss them. Now hear me out. When we talk about leadership and HR we focus solely on you- the manager/employer. We often forget there is another party in the equation. The employee. Everyone brings different things to the table in any relationship: ⮕perspective of life and work in general ⮕differences in reactions and interpretations of events ⮕different lifestyles ⮕values are aligned with individual experiences And all of these make up our personalities. It’s usual that managers find it difficult to deal with personalities they’re not used to. In essence, sometimes it just doesn’t work out. As long as laws are adhered to and wellbeing/the interests of both parties is considered then it might be time to have “that conversation”. Do you think you have what it takes to lead such a matter ? They’re not your wife, husband, friend or family member. But…. An employment relationship is a two-sided arrangement just like any other relationship. Employers should empower their staff to achieve and employees should work toward achieving the greater goal. If the arrangement is one sided then one party will give up on the other. Start treating an employment agreement seriously to really experience the mutual benefit.

I said it - as a manager, you're too NICE. Here is 6 things that are making you appear unprofessional as a manager, but nobody is telling you 𝗜𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗣𝗛𝗜𝗖 𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 1. Confusing and unclear feedback ↳Ask yourself, can the conversation be summed up into a few key action points? 2. You're too nice ↳While it is important to be pleasant, focusing mainly on being 'liked' can dilute your authority. 3. You lack confidence ↳I get it, you have HR telling you what to do, which is great, but you haven't had any management training and this is SO obvious by the way you carry yourself at work 4. You've done no learning and development yourself ↳Its as simple as you have to practice what you preach to be taken seriously and to gain respect 5. STOP oversharing ↳Don't talk about other team members shortfalls - this is making you seem incredibly unprofessional 6. Favouritism ↳Showing favouritism only gets in the way of decision making and shows you lack consistency in management ♻️𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗢𝗦𝗧 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 ✅ 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗵𝗶-𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗗𝗙 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗥 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗰𝘀 📌𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 2 𝗺𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝘆𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗵𝘁𝘁𝗽𝘀://𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮-𝗸6𝗮𝗰𝗰2𝗱𝘄.𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗽𝗽.𝗰𝗼𝗺
