Equality (Race and Disability) Bill: What Employers Need to Know 💼 A significant new employment Bill, the Equality (Race and Disability) Bill, is expected to be published soon. If passed into law, it will introduce key changes for employers, including: ✔️ A legal duty for employers with 250+ employees to conduct ethnicity and disability pay gap reporting. ✔️ Extended equal pay rights to protect workers from discrimination based on race and disability. ✔️ Restrictions on using outsourcing to avoid paying equal wages. ✔️ The creation of a regulatory and enforcement unit for equal pay, involving trade unions. These proposed measures aim to enhance workplace equality and transparency. Employers should start preparing now to ensure compliance if the Bill becomes law. 36% of Women Feel They Don’t Receive Equal Pay💼 A recent survey commissioned by Acas highlights persistent gender pay disparities in the workplace: 📊 36% of women believe they’re not receiving equal pay compared to male colleagues. 📉 10% of men think they are paid more for the same work, indicating lower awareness of the issue. 📈 34% increase in pay-related dispute cases was reported by Acas’s early conciliation service from 2022 to 2023. These findings show that despite legal protections, achieving true pay equality remains a challenge.
