⚡️Incredible to have been part of the first Mission #Hackathon on "Clean Energy" last week with 10DS. Over 100 civil servants worked tirelessly across three days at Imperial Policy Forum White City Campus to build and pitch innovative data science solutions for government's thorniest problems. Hackers wrestled with data from National Energy System Operator, Kaluza and a range of industry partners to deliver some genuinely outstanding innovations to our semi-final judges. Once the original 15 teams were whittled down to a final 6, projects were pitched to our "dragons", a panel including the CEO of NESO and the CPO of Kaluza. After painstaking deliberation, the overall winners were... "Team 42"! They had built an exceptional interactive dashboard (including a simulation of the grid balancing process ) that factored emissions impacts into grid balancing decisions. "Embrace the Chaos" and "Flexperts" rounded out the top three with some impressive analysis and tooling that proposes a risk-based optimisation method for new grid connections and provided granular analysis of EV usage from household smart meter data. 🔋 Huge congratulations to all of our incredible teams- we can't wait for the next one! 🚀
