😳New car tax plan is PAY-PER-MILE.😳 No more lump sums but pay more the more you drive???🤨 🙊 Pay-per-mile road taxation, also known as road pricing, would see drivers having to pay more Vehicle Excise Duty depending on how many miles they drive per year, in conjunction with how polluting (or not) their vehicle is. Simply put, this means that those who drive less, pay less, and those that drive more and thus use the roads more, pay more. Think about it, in order to track this they will also need to know every bit of your movement. 👁️ Adding cost to nipping to the shop, Making Field Sales Roles even more expensive, Transport, Logistics, The implications of this are MASSIVE!! I was talking to a few business development managers yesterday... 🔊PLASTICS ARE THE ENEMY!!🔊 Are you serious? 🤔 🎨 Some people are but allow me to paint a slightly different picture... Plastics isnt the enemy but how we use them. Plastics do some great things and i believe its due to what we use them for and what we do with them after use. 👏 For example, what is more resource-effective: an item that can be produced once and used 1000 times, or an item that can be used once and is recycled 1000 times? 🤷♂️ 🛢️Surely you can see solely relying on one or the other isn't feasible. It's about combining the two in various ways. I think we are heading there, but the process can be sped up if we stop vilifying things and use them for what they're good for and make up for what they lack.🌳 ☯ Paper and plastic are Yin and Yang, two halves that are more effective in unison instead of competition. Do you agree? 🗣️

🗣️ Talk a BIG Game BUT It Seems Its All Talk... 💁🏻♂️ 🏛️ The Scottish government cancels its target of reducing greenhouse gases by 75% by 2030 due to missing eight of its last 12 annual climate goals. 📉 Both the Conservative and Labour parties have softened flagship environmental objectives in the past year. 😕🤔The Timber Packaging & Pallet Confederation (TIMCON) says discussions with DEFRA on the implementation of a reuse incentive scheme for wooden packaging have been ‘extremely positive’. 🤔😕 Timber Packaging and Pallet Confederation TIMCON, along with other wood product associations, campaigns for a reuse initiative with two main aims: ♻️ Maximizing the reuse of wooden pallets and packaging in supply chains. 🔄 Supporting the development of a circular economy. 🙌 TIMCON President John Dye emphasizes the necessity of incentivizing reuse to maintain progress towards net zero and send positive messages to the UK public. 👏 🪓 TIMCON collaborates with other wood-based sectors and submits a proposal to DEFRA for a workable reuse framework as part of a Proposed Reuse Incentive Scheme document. The document aims to: 📈 Maximize the number of times wooden packaging is reused before recycling. 📏 Increase the use of wooden transport tools in supply chains. The reuse framework includes: 🔍 Incentivizing, measuring, and recording reuse. ⛓️ Helping supply chain users recognize reusable pallets. 🌳 Ensuring pallets are recycled at the end of their useful life. ✏️ Clarifying obligations for reuse and other recommendations.

Earth Day celebrated but warnings on plastic waste persist A recent report warns 220 million tonnes of plastic waste will be generated in 2024. Earth Day, celebrated annually on April 22, highlights the importance of environmental protection. - The 2024 theme, 'Planet vs. Plastics', raises awareness about plastic pollution. - A report by EA Earth Action reveals that 220 million tonnes of plastic waste are expected to be generated in 2024. - Over a third of this waste (68.6 million tonnes) is projected to end up mismanaged in nature. - This amounts to an average of 28kg of plastic waste per person globally. - Plastic Overshoot Day, when plastic waste generation exceeds the world's capacity to manage it, falls on September 5, 2024. - Half of the world's population already lives in areas where waste management capacity is exceeded, expected to rise to two-thirds by September 5, 2024. - Since 2021, there has been a steady 7.11% increase in plastic waste. - EA Earth Action warns against relying solely on recycling to solve the plastics crisis, stressing the need for improvements in waste management capacity.
