Synergy Creativ and ICEX GROUP Q: What did you most appreciate about our service? A: Speed of the response and booking We are really happy to once again hear that ease and efficiency are mentioned as what we are appreciated for by our clients! ICEX GROUP are here to make the sustainable and secure management of e-waste efficient and headache-free for your organisation. Oh, and did we mention there is an opportunity for rebates (where the residual value of the equipment allows for this) to help with your budgets or ESG by donating to a charity? Of course, you can tell the world who you’ve supported, as it's good to do and to normalise helping those in need! We recently carried out a collection for a company that also really cares about sustainability - Synergy Creativ! Check out their page or see the link to a great article about sustainable workplaces in the comments. We always check that the basics are covered, including arriving on time, being prepared, being polite and making sure the client was satisfied with our overall performance - to which they responded YES on all counts! Great to hear, and great work from the team on the ground. Another great sign that we have carried out a good job is that they are an ongoing client. Thanks to the team at Synergy Creativ for being a great client, and we really love your work towards a more sustainable future! We also asked what was most appreciated about our services and, as mentioned above, we were very happy to hear our efficiency and ease being brought up again with “speed of response and booking”. For anything to do with IT Asset lifecycle management, please reach out to us at any time. We’d love to talk about how we help IT departments with sustainability and budget responsibility (including value from rebates), all whilst maintaining the highest security standards. 📧 info@icex.co.uk 📞 01376 503900 ICEX GROUP’s mission is to securely revive or relocate, and if necessary, recycle all our clients’ technology assets, to help achieve digital equality, and reduce e-waste to landfill. #Testimonial #HappyClients #Sustainability #Security

We do Secure Technology Asset Revival & Relocation (STARR) to help reduce E-waste and achieve digital equality.
About us
ICEX GROUP’s mission is to securely revive or relocate, and if necessary, recycle all our clients’ technology assets, to help achieve digital equality, and reduce E-waste to landfill. We have a wide and varied list of clients from international banks to universities and hospitals. We offer solutions that improve ESG and promote the circular economy. Working with local government and emergency services, our varied client list gives you the further security of knowing we can build an IT Asset Management plan designed to suit your needs. We don’t particularly like the industry standard term of ITAD - Information Technology Asset Disposal - due to the implication of the word disposal. We prefer to call ourselves a STARR service - Secure Technology Asset Revival or Relocation service. We only ever recycle as a last resort, always endeavouring to ‘breathe new life’ back into tech. The circular economy is where we must head. Licensed by the Environment Agency as a waste carrier and processor, we also have ISO 9001 Quality, 14001 Environmental and 27001 Data Security certification. Additionally to keep your data safe, our staff are DBS-checked and our vehicles are GPS-tracked. Our vision for ICEX GROUP is to be the most sustainable IT Asset Partner for organisations. We’re striving to make a better world. A world where no technology assets ever get wasted and everyone has access to affordable technology. A world where technology assets are reused as much as possible, and when new assets are needed, they’re always sustainable. Only when they’ve reached the end of their life, and as a last resort, do they get recycled. And absolutely nothing goes to landfill.

Our CEO gave a talk at our Business Improvement District! A big thank you to Witham Industrial Watch Ltd for hosting our very own John Russell! As you can see, this was filmed a little while ago around the festive season - fantastic waistcoat, John - maybe we should call it a ‘no-e-waste coat’ … John gave a short talk all about ICEX and what we do. Please watch the video below and support John! Mentioned in the talk is our desire to become a B Corp! If you have any tips for us as we embark on our journey to become a B Corp, please reach out and/or comment below! #FeaturedBusiness #IntroducingYourBusinessNeighbours #ThisIsICEX - John Russell, Sales Director of ICEX GROUP, presented at our end of year networking and update meeting on 6/12/24. It was fascinating to learn the nature of their business as a leading IT recycling and asset management company, offering a flexible solution to IT asset management, environmental compliance and certified data eradication. As part of our 'In The Spotlight' series, we invite businesses who form Witham's Business Improvement District (BID), to introduce themselves to their business neighbours, bringing a fuller context to our diverse community. This added value initiative helps provide an insight about each company's offerings, and opens up discussions for developing business-to-business opportunities in the BID. It's really opened up doors and collaborations between a number of the 350+ businesses we serve across Witham's industrial estates.

Microsoft Support for Windows 10 ends this October! Do NOT install Windows 11 if your device doesn’t meet the requirements! The ‘official’ advice from Microsoft is to upgrade your hardware. Some estimates put this at one-third of PCs! In October this year (2025), Windows 10 support will end, and a huge influx of redundant devices will occur - more on this below and ICEX GROUP’s role in this. Please see some useful links and a statement from Microsoft in the comments below. (You may need to select ‘most recent’ and go to the bottom as ‘most relevant’ sometimes excludes author comments, it seems.) Microsoft's hardware requirements for Windows 11 include for example: “1 Gigahertz processor or faster with 2 or more cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or system on a chip (SoC).” Follow link below for more. ICEX GROUP always focuses on security and sustainability in tech. This makes the situation a bit tricky as, for security reasons, we must recommend an upgrade to Windows 11 prior to the Windows 10 end-of-life (EOL). We recognise this as a potential problem and also an opportunity for ITAD (IT Asset Disposal/Disposition) and STARR (Secure Technology Asset Revival and/or Relocation) service providers like us. There is concern that companies will face budget constraints from having to upgrade their hardware so it can support Windows 11. The problem for e-waste and sustainability may arise if budgets are constrained, leading to corners being cut. The cutting of corners in this case results in the landfilling of e-waste. This causes terrible pollution, wastes resources and, most importantly (with pollution), directly harms communities, which means human beings, impacted by the landfilling. If you have any ideas on how to make it more efficient, or want to work with us to manage this issue correctly and avoid e-waste to landfill as much as possible, do get in touch. (0% of all the equipment we process directly goes to landfill - we cannot make absolute guarantees about our entire supply chain, but we always endeavour to use responsible partners and avoid any that are incorrectly disposing of equipment or parts.) So, please use a properly certified ITAD (and STARR) service provider for your requirements when having to manage the Windows 10 EOL and Windows 11 upgrades. Look around, we think ICEX GROUP is a good option ;) For anything to do with IT Asset lifecycle management, please reach out to us at any time. ICEX GROUP and the UN Global Compact Why did we join the world’s largest sustainability network for better and more ethical business practices? UN Global Compact Network UK We support the 10 universal principles and the 17 sustainable development goals - focusing primarily on environmental impact and sustainability in tech, especially avoiding landfill. The 10 universal principles fall under 4 main categories: Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption. In the Environment category, where ICEX has the greatest direct impact, there are 3 principles: - Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges; - Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and - Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies. This is a great time to mention Zanshuri who “design and build some of the most energy efficient laptops and server computers in the world.” Please see link to them in the comments for more info. Sanda Ojiambo, CEO and Executive Director of the United Nations Global Compact, said in her letter to UNGC participants: “In 2025, I call on all participants to accelerate your engagement with our global sustainability movement. This call to action is clear: we must all move forward much faster to meet the pace and scale the future requires. The needs are unprecedented, but so are the opportunities.” Sometimes sustainability as a conversation can be daunting, and even scary, so it is good to see the opportunities mentioned. The issue with waste isn’t just the damage but the fact that it is waste - i.e. wasted resources. This is why at ICEX GROUP we fully support and promote the wonderful, practicable idea of the circular economy. Our Stats from 2024 ICEX GROUP’s mission is to securely revive or relocate, and if necessary, recycle all our clients’ technology assets, to help achieve digital equality, and reduce e-waste to landfill. We say ‘if necessary, recycle’ because to us that is our last resort - we never directly send anything to landfill and always endeavour to use companies that operate with best practices. We are aware of the issues with exporting waste and that some recyclers will export (often illegally, according to the Basel Convention) and we fully support better legislation from governments to reduce this. This would not simply be to threaten punishment, but rather should include empowering recyclers to get the most value out of what they process - which ideally means avoiding recycling and achieving repurposing or reviving/refurbing/repairing for reuse in the first place! This may require government investment in education, training and equipment to empower people and organisations to be able to revive for reuse where possible and recycle as a last resort. (For clarification, repurposing strictly means putting something to another use such as turning a base unit into a coffee table as a silly example.) Our stats for 2024 are: ✅ 54,348 IT assets processed by ICEX GROUP in the 2024 calendar year ✅ 54.88% revived for reuse by people again ✅ 45.12% recycled ✅ 0% to landfill We are really happy that we have once again achieved over 50% revival (or reuse) rate, and we’re pleased to see a slight improvement in our reuse rate over 2023! This is across all devices. One of the main things we collect are laptops, and we are really happy to see that our rate of revival is high on laptops - achieving a 70% reuse rate (well, to be exact, 69.64%!) - which we are really pleased with! Laptops are something we especially want for our charity of the year, and partner, Community TechAid. They are on a mission to stop the digital divide in the UK and give access to technology to those who need it most. Reach out to us, or them, if you have any laptops not being used (or any other devices). Where applicable, the rebate value can be donated to Community TechAid as well if you wish, or a charity of your choice (or returned for your budget as you prefer). So, a huge thank you to all our clients and colleagues for achieving more and more to help reduce e-waste to landfill! We are happy to announce that ICEX GROUP is now a member of ‘London’s key hub for the business community’ - London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and we are excited to help and be helped by this huge business community! This will be headed up by our Account Manager Andrew Wright - if you’re a member reach out to him on LinkedIn and see if we can help each other, or know someone who can, today! Alternatively, his contact is: andrew.wright@icex.co.uk 01376 525207 What does ICEX GROUP do? ICEX GROUP is a leader in secure IT asset lifecycle management, dedicated to helping organisations and IT service providers reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) and enhance their ESG credentials - in other words, we endeavour to do what’s right for people, the planet, and prosperity. We have two core services: ICEX REVIVAL and ICEX RELOCATION ICEX REVIVAL is our core service where we operate as an ITAD - IT Asset Disposition/Disposal company. We see the term ITAD as being a bit outdated and so we prefer the term STARR - Secure Technology Asset Revival and/or Relocation to describe what we do. We believe in the circular economy which embraces three primary principles in order of preference (as described in the waste hierarchy): - Reduce - prevent waste being created in the first place - Reuse - this could include reviving/repairing/refurbing for reuse - Recycle - the last resort ideally, so nothing goes to landfill. Uses more resources and creates waste through energy usage, but is far better than simply dumping Repurposing can get a special mention as a specific type of reuse where the thing carries out an entirely new function - often it can happen to parts, for example, a car’s tyre may be repurposed as a bumper for a fishing boat. This avoids the intensive processing that occurs when recycling, which still uses energy and resources. ICEX GROUP is primarily involved in proper Reuse and Recycling for IT Assets - the reduction of waste in the first place is down to manufacturer design and consumer choice. For more on the waste hierarchy and the circular economy please see our White Papers on the topics here: - Waste Hierarchy - https://lnkd.in/erSDvrmf - Circular Economy - https://lnkd.in/e66dTpsy ICEX GROUP’s mission is to securely revive or relocate, and if necessary, recycle all our clients’ technology assets, to help achieve digital equality, and reduce e-waste to landfill. Community TechAid our Charity of the Year and Now Our Partner! Last year we met with some of the team at Community TechAid at an event. We really liked their goal to reduce E-Waste by directly helping to reduce the digital divide by getting otherwise unused equipment into the hands of those who can benefit the most from gaining access! In Community TechAid’s words: “Our goal is to provide our community with the three fundamentals of digital inclusion: access to technology, connectivity and the knowledge and skills to access the online world." So we wanted them to be our Charity of the Year as they do really good work and it is directly aligned with our goals as well! This meant we initiated more conversations and so a few months later this relationship evolved to a partnership! We saw an opportunity to be able to help each other. ICEX GROUP has the logistical capacity to carry out some of the larger jobs and can take on the highest levels of data liability. Community TechAid can put the excess laptops and devices to the best use possible around the London area and we want to help Community TechAid to expand across the UK! To see more about what Community TechAid are up to please see the link in the comments. Happy New Year from all at ICEX GROUP! We are very excited about the opportunities we will have this year to help make IT Asset management more circular and sustainable for people and the planet! If your organisation is renewing its IT equipment this year and needs a fully accredited, secure, and sustainable team to handle its existing equipment, reach out to us today! 📧 info@icex.co.uk 📞 01376 503900 We provide ITAD services - IT Asset Disposal/Disposition. We revive technology wherever possible for reuse, and recycle only as a last resort, sending nothing to landfill. This is why we believe in evolving our service term from ITAD to STARR - Secure Technology Asset Revival and/or Relocation. Sometimes, equipment doesn’t need reviving for reuse; it can just be relocated. For example, sometimes when an office is moving, removal companies don’t want to take on the liability of handling and transporting devices with sensitive data. This is where ICEX GROUP can come in as we are fully accredited and insured to do so. (We already partner with the UK’s largest removals and storage company for this!) For anything to do with IT Asset lifecycle management, do get in touch. We can talk through how we help IT departments with sustainability and budget responsibility (with value from rebates) whilst maintaining the highest security standards.
