We love the opportunity to be creative, and to incorporate high quality assets. So building a D2C website for Meyer UK cookware brand, Earth Pan, was lots of fun. If you're looking for sustainable cookware, checkout Earth Pan 🌿 #wordpress #ux #webdesign #webdevelopment #d2c #fauxcommerce

“Web Design is all about aesthetics right?” This is a common misconception. A well-designed website is much more than a pretty interface. While aesthetics are important, the true foundations of good web design go deeper, focusing on user experience, accessibility, functionality, and responsiveness. Think of a building exterior that looks finished and attractive, but once you step inside, the layout is confusing, the doors are in the wrong places, the floor is slippy, and the lift doesn’t work. Not somewhere you’d want to be, unless maybe you’re Escher. Design is much more than what is on the surface. It is about balancing form and function to ensure that your website delivers a seamless, enjoyable experience for all visitors. Well rounded design can dramatically impact the success of a website. In 2023 Impact redesigned a website for brick manufacturer's Michelmersh to help improve usability, mobile experience, and to make the website easy to update in the backend. Impact implemented our custom and lightweight WordPress block based editing system, allowing their team to make code free visual updates. We completely refreshed not just the design, but the layout too, creating multiple new page layouts. This redesign led to an increase in conversions of 59% #webdesign #webdevelopment #wordpress #construction #b2b

Loading... Please wait. On articles especially in publishing, some are quite lengthly. Insightful articles that you want to read, but being so time poor, you may scroll hesitantly, because you are wondering are you going to get the vital piece before you're doing the next thing on your list of tasks. There's no indication, and in some cases, if you don't get to the bottom quick enough (or if it doesn't load) you bounce. On the PIE News website we implemented a simple loading indicator, giving short and long articles a visual progress display, but better still rather than a circle or a line we went went full PIE. Using the logo and filling up each pie piece as the user scrolls the page. Subtle and small brand injections is another aspect heavily overlooked in websites, as many don't consider these small things when planning and designing a page. We wireframe each page layout before moving onto design, which you'd see a prototype of before it even gets into development. You can't get this detail, jumping straight into a template or a starter theme.

So much can change without changing the entire website. Here's a homepage refresh that Impact delivered for our client the BHTA. ➡️ Improved UX and usability for the website ➡️ Updated UI to bring more inline with modern day offline branding ➡️ Updated header and footer across the entire website ➡️ Easier editing for the team to update content. Not all websites require a full redesign, some just need a makeover.

Great use of mobile navigation from my local newspaper. So many websites rely solely on the 3 line burger menu to open the navigation. Here you can see they have prioritised their 3 main categories News Sport The blues (Southend United) They also have a horizontal scrolling menu below with sub categories so without clicking once you can quickly navigate to your chosen topic or category. Great execution for a publishing website with so many doorways on their website. Sadly the rest of the content I’d be too scared to click as it all appears click bait articles and adverts. So many publishers have content like this to balance the books. We launched a website with a similar navigation structure for a international education news publisher The PIE last year and this benefited from a far more clinical advert platform and no use of click bait articles. www.thepienews.com If you want to take a look. But in short complex navigations shouldn’t rely on burger menus alone. Prioritise your main links and make them single tap on mobile. Oh and don’t use click bait looking articles or adverts you just devalue trust and brand reputation.

Stop asking your developer to make changes to your website. Does it feel wrong? You have a website with a CMS, but you still need to ask them to make certain changes? There will be a few reasons for this 1️⃣ You may not know how to make the change This could be simply because you were never shown, and no handover or training was ever provided. You don't have the confidence to make a timely change and are concerned about breaking something. 2️⃣ There are areas of the website that are not editable. This means they are hard coded and not editor friendly, for those looking to make swift changes. Usual culprits are footer and header items where contact numbers or accreditation logos need to change. 3️⃣ It's just too difficult or time consuming The backend editing experience is like a scene from a horror movie and not your favourite one. Editing is not intuitive, things are not visual and asking your agency to make those changes is easier for you, but you have a sense of resentment for having to ask them. _ These are all very common reasons why marketers approach us for website redesigns. Not necessary because the website looks tired and needs a visual facelift, but because its too difficult for the client to actually add content to. This is one of our main focuses when we build websites. We call it 'Teach em to fish' and the goal is to give you the tools to fish for yourself. (Add content yourself not actually fish!) We want you: ✅ Build out your own landing pages. ✅ Edit the footer and header areas changing logos and contact info. ✅ Edit with confidence regardless of whether that's today or 12 months from now. ❌ You shouldn't need us for any of these tasks. We help you fish for yourself. ✅ Providing customised training videos showing you how to use the blocks on your website. Saved in your dashboard for staff to watch, even 6 - 12 months down the line. ✅ Brand approved visual editing blocks, that are intuitive to use allowing you to open a library of available content blocks and confidently build out content pages and landing pages with CTAs & signup forms. ✅ Make the entire website editable, so that you can do content editing yourself, without developer intervention. That might sound like we are putting ourselves out of work, but on the contrary, the more freedom you have to create, the more ideas you have to extend. The extensions are new ideas and features that the website isn't capable of yet. That's where we are, waiting in the wings, ready to deliver the next slice of value pie, that we once again teach you to manage. Websites should be easy, and so many agencies focus on the front end, but give less care to the backend, because its only the client that sees it, & not the award judges. We focus on delivering both a great front end experience & a great backend too, along with training for the far more successful website. We don't actually do any fishing... I doubt I could sit still long enough #TeachEmToFish
