We had the privilege of supporting the Shine UK Programme in the last round to work with inspiring social innovators, including Impact Hub Bradford member Green Street, who secured the full £25,000 funding to expand their transformative work. Currently in the third year, our friends at Impact Hub London are working on Shine UK with partners, Swiss Re Foundation and BOOKBRIDGE, to empower the next generation of social innovators by helping them transform their ideas into scalable business models with the potential for maximum social impact. Applications are now open for the third edition, they are looking to support early-stage entrepreneurs who are trying to address challenges in the following areas: - Climate risk management (including climate-smart agriculture, disaster risk reduction, transformation to net zero, renewable energy, afforestation, and recycling) - Access to health (including affordable healthcare and nutrition for underserved groups). The Programme will work with the selected social entrepreneurs to embark on a five-month immersive nurture program. During this journey, they will be mentored by SwissRe experts and mentored by seasoned business and leadership coaches to help them craft financially viable and scalable business plans. As an added incentive, the chosen social innovator will receive £5,000 upon being selected and have the opportunity to secure an additional £25,000 to fuel their future growth based on a successful business pitch. Last year, it was all about supporting organisations in the Creative and Cultural Industries. This time, we’re focused on ones working in Climate & Environment. At Impact Hub Bradford & PwC, we believe that developing sustainable solutions is crucial for a better tomorrow. Our Build Your Business Enterprise coaches hosted a Ladies Networking Event on 9th August at the Skylight Lounge. Impact Hub Bradford, along with Inspired Neighbourhoods, offered information on the program and how Building an idea into a Business is achievable. There was a lot of networking, hearing stories as well as coffee and laughs. It was a very insightful, empowering and motivational morning for all those who attended.
