Swan Stars ✨ We love to celebrate the successes and achievements of our amazing team of individuals we have in the nest, which is why we created our 'Swan Stars'. Each month, one swan is voted the 'Swan Star of the month', and their achievements celebrated 💜 Swans are nominated for by their colleagues. This could be someone that has gone above and beyond for a client, helped a fellow Swan or simply improved personally by stepping out of their comfort zone. The winners are then decided by the Directors, and go into our draw at the end of the year to win a contribution towards a holiday of their choice. The winner of our Swan of the Month for October is ......... (drum roll 🥁) Miguel De Sousa....congratulations! Watch this space for next month's winner 😀 🥂

International Men’s Day 💜💙 Today is ‘International Men’s Day’ which celebrates the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities. It’s a day to highlight positive role models and raise awareness of men’s well-being. The theme for 2024 is “Positive Male Role Models”. We are lucky to have such inspirational male role models at Indigo Swan, who are passionate not only about the vision of the company, but about each Swan personally. Our MD James is a great leader and mentor, not only in the nest, but also outside of the nest too and does a great deal to support the local business community. Our Commercial Director Andy has been shortlisted for ‘Director of the Year’ award in the EDP Business Awards and is always there to offer help and support. We are lucky to have two incredible male Directors whose leadership, passion and dedication inspire all the other Swans in the nest and allow us to be ourselves every day. Wellbeing and mental health are important at Indigo Swan, and today is also about addressing men’s mental health. Men are more likely to suffer from mental health issues such as depression and anxiety but are less likely to seek help due to societal expectations around masculinity, so it’s important that we encourage conversations by creating a safe space and being there to listen. Today we are celebrating all the wonderful male Swans in the nest. We appreciate everything you do 💜 LEE, Kieran, Andrew, Callum, Miguel, Harrison. #InternationalMensDay #IMD2024 #MentalHealth

Did you watch Panorama’s ‘The Truth about Smart Meters’ last night? ⚡ In 2011, the government set out plans to get smart meters into every home and said that this could be completed by 2019. As it stands, currently only two-thirds of homes have them and millions don’t work as they should do. Following on from the perfect timing (!) of Aimee and James discussing smart meters on BBC Radio Norfolk yesterday morning, we wanted to share some of the main points we picked up from this. If you watched it, we’d love to know what you thought below 👇🏼 · Smart meters are intended to allow us to provide accurate consumption data to the network which gives better billing and allows for better planning in managing the supply / demand relationship. · It’s one of the government’s tools to help reach Net Zero. · The cost of the rollout is £13.5bn and the benefit from energy savings thought to be just £6bn. · In the Midlands, Wales and Southern England, meters use cellular (mobile) technology. A weak signal can be boosted using an aerial. · In northern England and Scotland meters use radio waves. A weak signal cannot be boosted by an aerial. These radio waves are better suited to rural sparsely populated areas……so that creates issues in towns and cities, including Glasgow. · 36 million smart meters in the UK and 3.5 million are not working properly. This can mean that when some customers use energy during the off-peak period and believe they are getting cheaper rates, they may be billed the full period at the peak rate. They may also be billed on estimated rates. · The new government target is to get smart meters into ¾ of households by end 2025. · The issues are thought to be that energy suppliers were made responsible for fitting smart meters rather than the local distribution company and that the fitting is voluntary, having to persuade customers to allow installs. The likes of BG (British Gas) are now saying that the install of smart meters should be mandatory. · One in six of BG’s smart meters are not working properly. This is partially due to them fitting the COP1 meters rather than the newer COP2. · Different types of meters, different supplier software systems and targets to just install meters rather than them working correctly have contributed to issues. If you missed Aimee & James on the radio yesterday, you can catch up on BBC Sounds: https://lnkd.in/e675i9fy If you’d like to discuss any of these with us, or if you have any concerns, please get in touch with us. #SmartMeters #Energy #NetZero #Sustainability

Who caught Aimee Konieczny 🦢 and James Groves 🦢 on BBC Radio Norfolk this morning?! #SmartMeters #Energy #EnergySaving
Commercial Director | Co-Owner of Indigo Swan | Investors In People Leader of the Year 2023 | WUN Advocate
Big thanks to BBC Radio Norfolk for having James Groves 🦢 and me on the air this morning to talk about smart meters! Did you know... - the new roll out target is 80% of meters upgraded by the end of 2025 - at the end of Q224 there were 1.8mn non domestic smart meters installed, around 58% of all eligible meters - around 32.7mn meters are now Smart or Advanced, but around 10% of these can't communicate remotely Smart meters help improve billing and energy management, and you can make better choices about running your business with the data they provide. Indigo Swan are big advocates for smart meters, especially in the non domestic space, so get in touch if you want to find out more.
