We’ve had some really great conversations with brokers and insurers recently, and the two things that keep coming up are understanding and validation. The understanding comes from the broker, client, and insurer, who understand what is required to obtain cyber insurance and how to translate the client's cyber posture onto the proposal form accurately. The validation is knowing that information on the proposal to insurers is accurate and what it means to obtain cover, risk profile, claims probability, cyber vulnerability etc. How brokers and insurers do this varies. Our service for your clients and partners provides a solution that clarifies the understanding and validates the information required by insurers to provide cover. We work with the client to assess their cyber position and rectify any issues before the risk is presented to the market. The report is generated using the FortMesa platform. It requires the right control set (CIS, NIST, etc.) to be selected based on the type of business, the industry it operates in and the desired objective. Additional frameworks can also be selected based on the client's profile using Infoprotect’s Security Profile Plans. The cyber risk assessment tools and report provide a clear understanding of the client's cyber risk maturity, including the likelihood and potential impact of various threats. The report is shared with all parties in full, which can then be used to present to the market. We’ve found that this report contains more information than some proposal forms and provides a clear view to insurers of the risk and where claims are likely to come from. This provides them with a more reliable and detailed risk picture, allowing them to provide their best cover and pricing. If you’d like to know more or discuss adding this service for your clients or brokers, please contact Brad Fraser today. We know that the last thing a technologist wants to do is paperwork, asking them to complete a lengthy cyber insurance questionnaire is just not going to happen quickly! Nine times out of ten, the IT person is asked to complete a cyber insurance proposal form. We have a tried-and-tested approach to collecting and presenting risk information to a cyber underwriter, which can help you get better cover and better terms for your clients. Our approach removes the need for a proposal form; we walk you through the process, including all the questions. Sure, there might be documents that you need to upload, and we may need some more information on certain things, but it will be a lot less painful than completing a questionnaire on your own, not knowing if the answers you give are what the underwriters are looking for. The beauty of our process is the collaboration between the client, broker, Infoprotect and the underwriter. Your client can also be assured that the information they provide will be available in the report we create, which sets out their current cyber position, the areas that need improvement, and a roadmap for making those improvements. It won't be a case of sending off a proposal and never seeing it again! The information provides the risk profile the underwriter needs to price the risk, and the client knows exactly what they are covered for. In our case study, this allowed the underwriter to give twice as much cover for a third of the original premium quoted to the client, which is why we think our solution is a game-changer for brokers, insurers, and clients buying cyber insurance. The Channel Co. CRN indicates in their article “10 Major Cyberattacks and Data Breaches in 2024 (So Far)” that data theft and extortion were big business for cybercriminals in the first six months of the year. The report states “The attacks have raised questions about whether threat actors are intentionally targeting companies whose patients and customers would be severely affected by the disruptions, in order to put increased pressure on the organizations for paying a ransom.” Don’t let the worry of ransomware prevent you from enjoying your business. Let’s talk about how our cybersecurity team can help keep you protected. https://oal.lu/hS31O

Some insurance brokers and cyber insurance buyers may be unsure of the differences between a pen (penetration) test and a vulnerability scan. Here are the key differences between penetration testing and vulnerability scanning: Vulnerability Scanning: ▪ An automated process that identifies known vulnerabilities. ▪ Uses software tools to scan systems against databases of known vulnerabilities based on databases like CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). ▪ Generally non-intrusive and just identifies potential weaknesses ▪ Can be run frequently (daily/weekly/monthly) ▪ Produces automated reports of found vulnerabilities ▪ Less expensive and faster than penetration testing ▪ These scans are often mandatory for compliance frameworks like PCI DSS and ISO 27001. ▪ They may generate false positives that need human verification Penetration Testing: ▪ Conducted by skilled professionals, penetration tests involve active attempts to exploit vulnerabilities. ▪ Simulates real-world attack scenarios and techniques to assess systems' security posture. ▪ Highly skilled testers try to breach systems like actual attackers would ▪ More comprehensive, providing deeper insights but also more expensive and time-consuming. ▪ Usually done less frequently (annually/quarterly) due to its complexity and cost. ▪ Tests business logic flaws that automated scans can't detect. ▪ Provides detailed, human-written reports with specific recommendations for remediation. ▪ Can validate whether existing vulnerabilities are exploitable. ▪ This may include social engineering and physical security testing. 💾 Save this and share it with someone who might find it useful. #cyberriskmanagement #cyberinsurance #insurance #insurers #cyberclaims #valueaddedservices #ransomeware #infoprotect

A recent Forbes article titled “The 10 Most Important Banking and Financial Technology Trends That Will Shape 2025” outlines vital predictions for investment services in the coming New Year. Here’s one of the trends highlighted in the 2025 article: “As financial services enthusiastically adopt AI across all areas of operations, it must also contend with increasing oversight from regulators. 2025 will bring new rules and legislation as lawmakers implement frameworks designed to promote trust and transparency while eliminating the dangers of bias and unethical AI. Navigating this shifting legal landscape will be a critical challenge for banks, financial services institutions and fintech startups alike as we head into 2025 and beyond.” Staying on top of the latest innovations is difficult to do when you also have to run an organization. Talk with one of our team about putting an IT strategy into place for 2025 cybersecurity and operational success. https://oal.lu/JGe2l

While everyone's hunting for deals today, we overheard something interesting on the train from Manchester last week that we had to share... A group of professionals openly discussing their client details, company info, and travel plans - completely unaware they were broadcasting sensitive data to a packed carriage! It's a stark reminder that cyber security isn't just firewalls and fancy tech. The human element matters just as much (and sometimes more). It was fantastic meeting so many of you at last week's Manchester Brokerbility conference. Your enthusiasm for better protecting your clients was clear, and we loved sharing with you how our pre-placement risk assessment tool can help spot these everyday vulnerabilities that other services might miss. If you'd like to find out more, book a call this week to see how our risk assessment platform helps you: 🔎Identify real-world vulnerabilities 📈 Get better terms from insurers ⚡ Stand out in client conversations 🚀 Boost your cyber insurance conversion rates This Cyber Monday you can help your clients avoid becoming Tuesday's breach headline! #cyberriskmanagement #cyberinsurance #insurance #insurers #cyberclaims #valueaddedservices #ransomeware #infoprotect Brad Fraser, Catherine France, Julie Gregory Cert CII, Jason Beach
