Much has been made over China’s efforts to dominate the AI industry, but it may be more difficult for the county to get there due to its predilection toward IP theft. Under the Biden administration, US semiconductor manufacturing equipment makers were forbidden from selling or servicing the tools that develop and manufacture chips necessary to run AI platforms. Companies that make the chips are also forbidden from selling them the chips. But two European companies, ASML and KLA have quietly shut down their China operations as well over IP theft. That puts a huge dent in the countries ability to move their AI program forward. Lou Covey, chief editor for Cyber Protection Magazine, has some of the inside information about this under-reported story and we will be taking questions LIVE from the audience. #ai #leadership #news

Quantum computing could potentially break current encryption methods, leading to a surge in research into quantum-safe cryptography. Organizations are preparing for post-quantum cryptography to protect their data from future quantum-powered attacks. But quantum computers take an enormous amount of power to perform the expected tasks. Is it even physically possible to meet those expectations? Lou Covey, chief editor of Cyber Protection Magazine, has his doubts. And it isn’t just about power needs for quantum decryption. Socioeconomic factors come into play including whether the nation-states most likely to deploy systems for malignant purposes will be in existence by the time the technology is available, and the sheer cost of producing a quantum computer powerful enough to do the job. All this demonstrates how the cybersecurity industry’s reliance on fear, uncertainty and doubt for marketing policy may have run its course and something else… like maybe truth, is a better direction. Join our host, Simon L. and Lou Covey for a live and interactive discussion with the chance for our audience to ask questions and contribute. #quantum #cybersecurity #community

Jake Bernardes is back for the next insightful episode of Risking it All in Cybersecurity, joined by special guest Rick Doten. Rick is VP, Information Security at Centene Corporation and CISO of the Medicaid healthplan based in Charlotte, NC. Rick is a frequent speaker at cybersecurity conferences such as RSA, Secureworld, Bsides, and FutureCon, and guest on numerous cybersecurity podcasts, including The CyberWire Hashtable, CISO Series, Google Cloud, Elevate Your Career, and The Rsnake Show. Rick talks about topics ranging from cybersecurity and risk, to neurodiversity, leadership, and staffing. Rick and Jake are discussing the fascinating world of neurodiversity. What makes people think the way they do and why it's important not only to understand why people see things in the way they do but also to leverage that for success. Jake sat in a room full of CISOs who it turns out all felt they lay somewhere on the spectrum and all shared similar traits - are we inherently disposed to our professions? This is a great session for those who wonder why they are different or why they think in a certain way and how to leverage that difference rather than just accepting or enduring it.
