It’s a shocking indictment of the state of some retail experiences today, but The UK’s annual CSI (consumer satisfaction index) results reveal a 14-year low! With retail sectors competing for footfall and trying to improve customer satisfaction levels in their physical stores, here are a few transferable strategies we’re recommending from the luxury retail sector. https://bit.ly/48F3DDE #luxuryretail #retaildesign #branding

The Institute of Customer Services were recently in conversation with BBC Radio 4’s You & Yours. The consumer affairs programme was discussing some new research which reveals the cost of ‘poor service in retail’. The report, from international research consultancy Forsta, suggests that 80% of UK consumers abandon their in-store shopping trips due to poor customer service. All this got us talking here in the design studio about our own personal shopping experiences and comparing them to the incredible customer service that our Luxury Retail clients provide to their customers. Here are our thoughts 👇🏼 https://bit.ly/48F3DDE #luxuryretail #retaildesign #branding

M&S recently reported skyrocketing profits following a major strategic brand investment programme in their products, stores, and in technology. This success story illustrates the potential value that investment in brand strategy can bring. It’s the reason why, from the very start of a new store design concept, we aim to help clients challenge and refresh their brand platforms so that we can translate their brand passion and purpose into store design opportunities and innovations. Here’s how we do it. https://lnkd.in/eF-39UwE #retaildesign #brandstrategy #innovaredesign

Armed with a clear set of Brand Values and a focused Brand Proposition, retailers have the essential building blocks they need to build brand loyalty and exploit commercial advantage. A great example of this is M&S, who have topped the UK consumers’ best brand rankings for some time and recently reported skyrocketing profits following a major strategic brand investment programme in their products, stores, and in technology. This M&S success story illustrates the potential value that investment in brand strategy can bring. It’s the reason why, from the very start of a new store design concept, we aim to help clients challenge and refresh their brand platforms so that we can translate their brand passion and purpose into store design opportunities and innovations. The success of a new store concept relies on more than just a creative interior design solution. It requires an understanding of the ‘Brand’ and its role and value to customers, to staff, and to the overall business. At the start of any new retail design project, we sit down with the senior client team to ensure we are clear about their brand strategy. Sometimes, we are lucky and are briefed with a recent and well-defined brand platform. But frequently we need to support clients through a brand review process to reach a current understanding of their brand essence and what makes them unique in their sector. Here’s a summary of the questions we ask. https://lnkd.in/eF-39UwE #retaildesign #brandstrategy #innovaredesign

As strategic retail designers, we know that the success of a new store concept relies on so much more than just a creative interior design solution. Consumer expectations were reset by the pandemic. After being isolated from our usual routines and relationships, we have become more reflective and more selective. What’s more, the subsequent financial turmoil has only made us increasingly discriminating about the choices we make, about the brands we buy, and the way we spend our time. Thrilled that our project for OKA Restaurant, Kingley Court, has been featured in Premier Hospitality Magazine. OKA’s owner tasked us with over doubling the size of its Kingly Court site, together with elevating the dining experience without losing the cosy, relaxed feel that diners already enjoyed. OKA’s unique food offer blends Robata Grilled delights with its usual fusion of pan-Asian and sushi delicacies. The overall design concept for the interior was inspired by both the Japanese art of symmetry and the Japanese cooking method of Robatayaki, which translates as fireside cooking. The result is a warm, welcoming, multi-layered transformation of the previous space, plus an increase from 30 to 80 covers. We more than met the brief, so much so that we’re now working on the next project for this client. Watch this space! We’re happy to announce that our work with OKA Restaurants, a pan-Asian independent restaurant group, is featured in this month’s @a1-retail-magazine-1. Our brief was to elevate the dining and cocktail experience of the Kingly Court site while building a stronger brand presence. We based our design on the Japanese principle of Notan - meaning dark-light - to create harmony and balance in the scheme.
