Our Edinburgh office wrapped up their charity efforts for the year with a fulfilling day of volunteering at the Edinburgh Food Project (EFP) warehouse! Our dedicated team spent the day sorting through generous donations from a recent supermarket food drive, carefully checking and dating food items, measuring out bulky items, organising them into categories for easy parceling and even helping to bring in another delivery for weighing and sorting. At this time of year, the EFP is bustling with donations from various supermarket drives, corporate partner initiatives, and support from the wider community, so it was an incredible opportunity for Amy, Caitlin, Grace, Hayley, and Paul to lend a hand to the wonderful EFP team, helping to ensure that every donation is ready to support those in crisis this Christmas. A massive thank you to our hardworking volunteers for their commitment to helping the community and embodying the spirit of giving during the festive season. We couldn't have chosen a better way to wrap up 2024 and spend our last day of volunteering for the year. We are thrilled to announce that for the fourth consecutive year, InterGen's Edinburgh office is supporting Blythswood Care's Shoe Box Appeal 🎁 🌟 Last year, we packed and sent 133 boxes to Kosovo and raised an impressive £2,000. This year, we set our sights even higher and aimed to fill and send 150 boxes... we are delighted to share that we surpassed our goal and filled 216 boxes destined for Kosovo and Ukraine! With InterGen matching the funds on our JustGiving page, we also raised a remarkable £7,200 in monetary donations. These funds will be crucial in helping cover the costs of transporting the boxes from the UK to their destinations. A special shoutout to our amazing colleagues, Ninon who continues to champion this initiative and to our volunteers who headed back to Barclay Viewforth Church of Scotland to pack and load the boxes onto the trucks for delivery. Every contribution and time given has helped us to once again make a significant impact and bring a memorable Christmas to those in need. We are incredibly proud of our employees, Julie and Lee, who were recently invited to a partner event by St Luke's Hospice at their Bulphan Facility. Coryton Power Station has been a supportive partner of St. Luke's Hospice (Basildon & District) for over 20 years, contributing to a variety of charitable efforts in that time to support the essential services that they provide. It was an honor to meet some of the dedicated professionals and volunteers who provide such invaluable services, and to have a tour around the magnificent building and beautiful gardens. Being invited to this event is a testament to our long-standing commitment to the community and the positive impact we've made together. 💚 Recognising Mental Health Awareness Month at InterGen 💚 This October, we took meaningful steps to support Mental Health Awareness Month across our organisation. Our Edinburgh team took a refreshing break from the office to hike up Arthur’s Seat (an extinct volcano in the heart of Edinburgh!), to mark World Mental Health Day. Taking time out of the workday for a walk can be a real mood booster, making it a simple yet effective way to support our mental health - plus the hike was made even more enjoyable by the company of some of our employees’ adorable pups! 🐾 Meanwhile, at our Rocksavage Power Station, one of our talented employees and his band “The Vow” performed at the iconic The Cavern Club in Liverpool. 🎸 The event raised an impressive £2000 for Samaritans and James' Place Charity in memory of their dear friend who tragically lost their life to suicide. We were proud to support this cause with a donation and see the event be a massive success, well done to all involved. Just like the rest of the nation, our Edinburgh Office has been very excited at the return of the Great British Bake Off - so much so that we decided to host one of our own. 🍰 🍞 Our judges thoroughly enjoyed sampling all the baked goods, but they faced the tough task of crowning our Master Baker. The title went to Jamie for his outstanding focaccia bread, but the judges also gave high marks to some delicious cinnamon twists, red velvet cakes, and Victoria sponge cake, which closely followed as runners-up. Overall, we had an amazing turn out and were so impressed by the top notch baking skills of our team - they really did “rise” to the occasion! All proceeds that were raised on the day from our employee donations will be provided to the Edinburgh Food Project as part of our continued support of the charity for 2024.
