As the year draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on what has been an extraordinary and transformative period for both myself and the entire Dreamland team. The recognition we have received throughout 2024 is nothing short of remarkable and a testament to the collective efforts and dedication of all involved. As a business, Dreamland has been honoured to receive the National Bed Federation (NBF) Small Retail Champion of the Year award and to be a finalist for Business of the Year in the Community Awards. These accolades underscore our commitment to excellence and community engagement. On a personal note, this year has been a humbling journey. Being awarded Apprentice of the Year for Leisure, Retail, and Hospitality at the Ladder for the Black Country Awards, receiving a Special Recognition Award from the Express and Star Business Awards, and being named a finalist at the Black Country Chamber of Commerce Awards have been deeply meaningful milestones in my professional development. One of the most profound aspects of this year has been the opportunity to connect with others in this incredible industry. Meeting fellow retailers who share the same passion and drive has been truly inspiring. This industry is full of individuals who are not only committed to excellence but also to innovation and supporting each other. It’s a privilege to be part of such a dynamic and collaborative community. This year has indeed been a whirlwind of growth, challenges, and achievements. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our supplier partners for their invaluable support and collaboration. Your guidance and partnership have played a crucial role in helping us reach new heights. Looking ahead to 2025, I am excited about the opportunities and growth that await. Applications are now open for our highly praised Young Professional Industry Experience (YPIE) programme! This immersive three-week journey runs from 2nd June to 4th July 2025, alternating weeks, and offers young professionals in the furniture and furnishings industry a chance to explore the full spectrum of the trade - from materials and design to marketing, sales, and customer service. Plus, it’s an incredible opportunity to connect with senior industry leaders and peers. While the programme is free, employers are responsible for travel and accommodation costs.
