Let’s bring you some more key findings from the 2024 ITF Global Tennis Report – the biggest-ever survey of tennis participation levels, which was published yesterday. As we know, the report revealed that 106 million people are now playing tennis across the globe – the first time that figure has risen above 100 million. Digging a little deeper, Asia is the biggest region for absolute numbers of players with 35.3 million. This represents 33.4% of the world’s tennis-playing population. Asia is followed by Europe which has 29.6 million players (27.9%) and North America which has 28.8 million (27.2%). South America has 8.8 million players (8.3%), Oceania 1.8 million (1.7%), Africa 892,000 (0.8%) and Central America & Caribbean 665,000 (0.6%). The country with the highest number of tennis players is the USA (23.8m), but in terms of percentage of the population, Great Britain is top with 13.4% and Canada second with 12.8%. The ITF’s mission is to grow and develop tennis across the globe and we are pleased to announce a significant milestone: 106 million people are now playing the game worldwide. Launched today, the ITF’s 2024 Global Tennis Report has found that 21.6 million more people played a game of tennis in the last year than in 2019 – a remarkable increase of 25.6 per cent. This is just one of the key findings from the latest ITF Global Tennis Report, the only study of its kind and one which provides a clearer picture of worldwide tennis participation. It follows rigorous data collection from 199 nations. The full report, which provides individual reports on nations, is available via the ITF Academy: https://lnkd.in/e2CidXQ9. The report can be accessed through the Content Library by searching 'Global Tennis Report'. ITF President Dave Haggerty said: “The significant growth in participation reflects the proactive and sustained efforts of National Associations, supported by the ITF, to expand tennis in all corners of the globe. “The report is the only one of its kind, providing an in-depth picture of the global tennis community. The report confirms we are a sport in good shape, with millions worldwide enjoying the health and social benefits it brings.”   #tennis #development #participation #GlobalTennisReport #data

  • Earlier today we brought you Italy's title-clinching point at the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals. Now it is time to recap the heroics of Jannik Sinner and Italy's winning moment at the 2024 Davis Cup Final 8. This ensured Italy claimed back-to-back Davis Cup titles, becoming the first nation to do so since Czechia in 2013. It also meant that Italy rule in the world in terms of international team competitions with their men and women both victorious in their respective World Cups of Tennis in 2024. #tennis #DavisCup #DavisCupFinals #DavisCupFinal8 #Italy #JannikSinner #Malaga #Spain #Netherlands

  • We may be biased, but the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals and 2024 Davis Cup Final 8 were electrifying, epic and showstopping. The men's and women's World Cups of Tennis drew record attendances (more about this later) and delivered some wonderfully compelling storylines. We've brought you the trophy lifts, but today we're going to remember the moments of victory as Italy were crowned world champions in both Billie Jean King Cup and Davis Cup. Let's start with Billie Jean King Cup as Jasmine Paolini secured the win which ensured Italy went from runners-up in 2023 to world-beaters a year later. #tennis #BillieJeanKingCup #BillieJeanKingCupFinals #DavisCup #DavisCupFinals #DavisCupFinal8 #JasminePaolini #italy

  • BE QUICK - DEADLINE IS TOMORROW! (27 November) There is still time to enter the ITF’s inaugural Tennis Photograph of the Year competition – with a top prize of $3000 USD up for grabs. We are on the hunt for the best tennis imagery of 2024 and are welcoming entries from both professional and amateur photographers worldwide. The closing date is 27 November. The ITF is responsible for supporting the global development of tennis through each stage of the player pathway to the very top of the game, and the new competition celebrates the breadth of that work. The winner, runner-up and top 10 shortlist will be selected by a judging panel consisting of ITF President David Haggerty, tennis photographer Paul Zimmer and two-time Grand Slam champion Garbine Muguruza. How to enter 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJJd4UeY Good luck! #tennis #photography #ITFPhotoOfTheYear #competition #photographs #TennisPhotography #TennisPhotos

Take a look at these fantastic images which capture Italy's victory over Netherlands in the 2024 Davis Cup final in Malaga. It was a victory which handed Italy their third Davis Cup title and their second in as many years as they became the first nation since Czechia in 2013 to win back-to-back titles. Their triumph came just days after Italy topped the Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge podium, reflecting the strength of Italian tennis at the present time. The men's and women's World Cups of Tennis have certainly delivered pride, passion and glory - not to mention compelling storylines. • World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has just defeated Australia's Alex de Minaur to propel Italy to their second successive Davis Cup final. This was the point which meant Sinner served for the match - and tie! Italy will now face Netherlands on Sunday (16:00 CET) and bid to become the first nation since Czechia in 2013 to win back-to-back Davis Cup titles. That would be some achievement. Victory would also make it a truly special week for the Italians after Italy topped the Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge podium on Wednesday. Follow all the action from the men's World Cup of Tennis at www.daviscup.com and the competition's social media channels. #tennis #DavisCup #DavisCupFinals #DavisCupFinal8 #Italy #Australia #Netherlands #JannikSinner

  • The passion of Davis Cup! This is the moment Tallon Griekspoor defeated Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff to fire Netherlands to their first ever Davis Cup final.
