Sir Robin Saxby, former chair of ARM, and Ama Frimpong Medical Engineer at the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) will be taking part in a visit to an Essex primary school today to give an assembly focusing on STEAM and engaging girls through creativity as part of #AITEducation.

It was International Women in Engineering Day on Sunday! #EnhancedByEngineering. We reflected on and celebrated the exceptional women engineers shaping our world with creativity and ingenuity. Female engineers play a vital role in tackling global challenges and developing groundbreaking innovations. Their contributions, from sustainable infrastructure to life-saving tech, are undeniable. We'd like to introduce four erudite nominees from the previous year, standing out from an impressive pool of candidates: Ama Frimpong, Alalea Kia, Alice Kan and Radhika Srinivasan. Since 2019, our RS Grass Roots Education team has hosted an annual flagship event called REflect, which is delivered in partnership with the Association for Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers (AFBE-UK) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). The event is focused on inspiring young people from global ethnic majorities (GEM) backgrounds into Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) and enables companies to explore ways to be truly inclusive of their ethnically diverse colleagues. The event is held on 1st August each year, in tandem with the #GEMinSTEM National Day. Our most recent event was held at The Engineering & Design Institute London (TEDI-London) and was attended by around 200 young people in person and many more virtually.
