Lucy Edwards is an RTS award-winning presenter, journalist, content creator, speaker, and disability activist. After losing her sight at 17 due to Incontinentia Pigmenti, Lucy committed to sharing her experiences and raising awareness about disability. Her engaging personality and open commentary have garnered her a social media following of over 2.8 million, with her content being viewed over one billion times. Lucy's influence makes her a leading voice in the global diversity, equity, and inclusion space. We have had a busy few weeks for IoD NI Students! We were delighted to attend the Students as Leaders programme with Ulster University last week. As part of this programme, Ulster University signed up 200 student members of the IoD to help them further grow as leaders. This programme will involve sessions with IoD members and NI leaders to help students gain skills and insights to help them within their future careers. We're looking forward to seeing what is to come with these students! ✨

We finished off our last Professional Development course for 2024 last week in The Merchant Hotel Belfast. We had a great group of delegates in for our Strategy for Directors course to wrap up all of our courses over the past year. Now onto the next..... We had the pleasure of meeting with some of IoD NI's Queen's University Belfast students last night. We discussed the benefits of student membership of the IoD and the key takeaways which they can bring with them from their membership into their future careers. They also heard from IoD NI Chair John Hansen on his career journey to date and he gave out some valuable advice on what he would do if he had to do it all again. Lynsey talked about the benefits of sports in propelling women into successful business careers. A background in competitive hockey has been a factor in shaping Lynsey’s approach to leadership, an experience that helped her gain a deeper understanding of the importance of teamwork, discipline, and resilience.
