Congratulations to Mark Rowland for winning the 'Brian Sixsmith Fellow the Year' Award at the ISPE UK Annual Awards 2024 in London Heathrow. The award was presented to Mark by Zam Shabeer Thahir - Chair of ISPE UK Mark was honoured as ISPE UK's 2024 Fellow of the Year in recognition of his lifetime contributions to the ISPE UK. It was made even special since it was his birthday on the day of the awards night. Mark has been a member of ISPE for 24 years and has served in various leadership positions in the Central Region committee, including Chair in 2005-2007. Mark is retiring from both work and ISPE in April 2025. We would like to thank Mark for all his support throughout the years and wish him a very happy retirement. ISPE UK is truly grateful.

Congratulations to Chris Leman from AstraZeneca for winning the Member of the Year Award at the ISPE UK Annual Awards 2024 in London Heathrow. The award was presented to Chris by Zam Shabeer Thahir - Chair of ISPE UK. Chris was honoured as ISPE UK's 2024 Member of the Year in recognition of his incredible contributions to ISPE UK in 2024 which included leading the ISPE UK North West region, creating the new CQV COP, collaborating with CIOB for the 'Diversity in the Workplace' webinar series, and serving as the Vice Chair of ISPE UK. We would like to thank Chris for his support and look forward to his energy, leadership and creativity at ISPE UK for 2025 and beyond.

Fantastic joint event by ISPE UK GAMP COP and the IChemE PharmaSIG at the MTC - Manufacturing Technology Centre in Liverpool earlier this week. Thank you to all delegates who attended and for the fantastic interaction and questions. The event showcased the packaging machine that is able to pack upto 5 different solid orals in the same blister. Some of the questions asked included: • How the variation in pocket forming is handled for different size, shape tablets • How the checks of critical parameters are made • How the dispenser hopper works when there are different types of tablets • How the product contact change parts are removed  • Adaptive scheduling • Batch records • Digital twin • How the heat seal is checked and the confidence of the heat seal

What an honour and privilege it was to deliver the State of the Affiliate address as the chair of ISPE UK at the ISPE UK Annual Conference & Awards Dinner 2024 last week at the Radisson Red in London Heathrow. It was an absolute pleasure to share the highlights of what has been an incredibly successful year for ISPE UK. The Annual Conference was packed with learning and networking sessions followed by the awards dinner in the evening that celebrated our emerging talent and recognised our volunteers who make ISPE UK so special in bringing the UK pharma industry together.
