About us

ITAC is a global network which supports teaching artists to continually improve their practice, creates opportunities for international collaboration, and provides a platform for increased visibility, support, and status of artists' work. Since 2012, ITAC has organised biennial conferences which provide an important platform for: - sharing practice, learning and research in the field of participatory arts - showcasing best and next practice for the host and visiting nations - generating new connections and building a palpable energy towards an international community. The first groundbreaking ITAC Conference (ITAC1) took place in Norway in 2012 - the success of which prompted a commitment to organising conferences every two years: 2014 - ITAC2 - Brisbane, Australia 2016 - ITAC3 - Edinburgh, UK 2018 - ITAC4 - New York, USA 2020 - ITAC5 - Seoul, South Korea (online event) 2022 - ITAC6 - Oslo, Norway ITAC runs monthly Think Tanks, through which a host from a different part of the world shares insights about their work, encourages discussion, and helps participants to develop their own practice. In 2021, ITAC is embarking on a pioneering project ITAC IMPACT: Climate - commissioning artists around the globe to design and deliver participatory projects to combat climate change. ITAC became a registered charity in 2018.

  • October Think Tank! 🌟 Join us on Wednesday, October 30 at 9:00pm CST (1:00pm GMT / 9:00am EDT) for the Think Tank The Harmony in the Air. Hosts Yang Yu Chiao and Carina Chen (Taiwan) will share the journey of a Teaching Artist who worked with 50 students who didn't have previous choral training. Over 13 weeks of ITAC's EDEN Engagement workshops, students completed 13 weeks of the EDEN Engagement workshops and performed on stage in Taiwan. This involved developing lessons and activities tailored to students, generally around 11 years old, guiding them to gradually understand environmental sustainability issues, and inspiring their self-expression through the arts. During the Think Tank, the hosts will share more about the reason why they selected the two schools they partnered with and how Yu Chiao developed lesson plans for students. 💡 A friendly reminder you will need to be signed up for ITAC's membership platform to register! ↪️ Register: https://lnkd.in/d8PFhQcn ↪️ Join ou free membership plataform: www. https://lnkd.in/d5DXNhNv #ITACcollab #ITACThinkTank

  • News from the England ITAC Hub! 🌟 Cultural Freelancers Study 2024 Conducted by researchers at the University of Essex and commissioned by Arts Council England, the study consists of three parts: a literature review; a survey with over 5,000 respondents that took place in October 2023; and finally a series of focus groups and interviews with 200 participants. This is the first time that the Arts Council has commissioned research of this scale into the lives and working conditions of cultural freelancers. The aim was to develop a deeper understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities faced by freelancers across the range of artforms they support. This study provides a baseline of data from which they will be able to monitor if and how things change in the sector over time. The study has resulted in a comprehensive report, which the Arts Council is publishing alongside the literature review, and a dashboard that allows everyone to explore the data themselves. 💡 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eyGqgNsH #ITACcollab #ITACHubs
