We just had to share these images of the recently completed refurbishment and restoration of a Richard Siefert-designed duplex apartment set on one of Kensington’s most exclusive roads. The client’s brief was to take the apartment, which over the years had been split into numerous “pokey” spaces, back to its original 1960s modernist aesthetic, re-establishing light, energy and flow. Its great to see brickwork emerging from the scaffolding at our Berkhamsted School Sixth form site. The sawtooth pattern relates to the wider faceted elevation that forms a new public frontage along the school's Castle Campus boundary. This detail also references traditional brick ornamentation prevalent in the surrounding historical context. The project which will deliver innovative teaching, learning and social spaces, is nearing completion for early 2025. Last month we took part in our annual Practice Meeting, this year held at the Building Centre. We enjoyed hearing from some great speakers including Lottie Macnair and Alex Solomon as well as from within our own JC team, and it was really stimulating to come together and share knowledge and ideas. A highlight as always was our annual construction challenge, this year to build a freestanding flagpole from bamboo. Congrats to the winning team - pictured here!
