Updates

  • Jackson engineers working from our Bristol office have recently completed a lift modernisation at the Vertigo building in Bristol, a three-storey office block that incorporates the 42m tall Cheese Lane Shot Tower, a Grade II listed building. The modernisation was undertaken to overcome potential problems with the OEM closed protocol MRL lift. Do you have any projects that require lift maintenance, repair, or modernisation? • Earlier this year, Jackson decided to realign our charitable assistance and direct it towards supporting local communities in all of the towns and cities where we have a presence. To help with this, we nominated the Trussell Trust: a charity with a nationwide network of over 1,300 food banks that support local communities. At the Jackson Regional Office level, we have a large number of employees who are regularly involved with their local communities, from participating in events to volunteering at weekends and evenings. Our Lichfield office is one of these, and last week Luke Watson, our Lichfield Team Leader, delivered a large Christmas food hamper to the Curborough Community Centre Lichfield. The Centre provides a range of community services – from drama classes for teenagers to Friendship and hospitality meetings – to make sure everyone in the area has a place to go for conversation and a cup of tea. Along with the hamper, Luke passed on our season’s best wishes to the volunteers and members.

  • Christmas Jumper Day Success! A huge thank you to our amazing team for getting festive and raising £284.14 for the Trussell Trust. The Trussell Trust works to provide food and vital support to those in need, ensuring no one in the UK has to rely on food banks to survive. We're proud to support their incredible mission this holiday season. Together, we’re lifting spirits and making a difference.

  • As we approach this year’s seasonal festive holiday period, we would like to send our best wishes to all our customers across the UK. We know many of them, particularly in the healthcare sector, will remain operational over the Christmas and New Year periods.  As always, our call centre staff and engineers will be working nationwide to provide on-site support and call-out assistance 24/7.

  • Locally based Jackson engineers working from our Wimborne office have recently completed a lift modernisation at the St Austell Community Hospital in Cornwall. The modernisation included improvements to the safe operation of the lift and its aesthetics. St Austell Community Hospital is another NHS hospital where Jackson proudly helps with lift maintenance and modernisation services. • During a recent cold snap, one of our local maintenance engineers stopped on his way to a customer’s premises to admire the sunrise. It goes to show that not all maintenance visits that Jackson engineers make are in city centres. In fact, far from it. Our experienced engineers cover the whole of Scotland, whether it’s the far reaches of Caithness or the coastal town of Oban in Argyll and Bute, you will find us there. Everybody at Jackson hopes you like this winter scene as much as we do. Are you in Scotland and looking for reliable local engineers to maintain or modernise your lift/s? • When most of us think of lifts in shopping centres, we only think about the passenger lifts that are essential for shoppers. However, to maintain stock levels, goods need to be moved from a loading bay area to the floor where an individual shop is located. This stock movement to a shopping centre’s upper floors will invariably require the use of a goods lift and, in many cases, these use hydraulic technology. Brooks Shopping Centre, located in Winchester’s town centre, is a classic example of a shopping centre with loading bays accessed via a goods entrance. Installed some time ago, the Brooks Shopping Centre goods lift was beginning to show signs of its age as well as poor energy performance. The centre’s management team were looking for a modernisation solution that would improve both reliability and energy efficiency. As a result, Jackson Lift Services, operating from our Wimborne offices, was asked by the centre’s lift consultants to provide costings and a modernisation time frame to undertake the work. Following a detailed site survey by one of our Regional Sales Engineers, we submitted a detailed estimate for the modernisation of the centre’s large through-car goods lift. This included the installation of a Hydratec smart hydraulic system configured with a Lester Controls lift controller, new door operators at each end of the lift car, new car operating and landing pushes, indicators and lighting. Following on from budget approval from the Center, Jackson local engineers, working from our Wimborne offices, undertook the modernisation work, completing and fully testing the lift prior to it being returned to service within the agreed programme date.
