Deliberate PR helped score a major English-language media result for #Nordic sustainability pioneer, Wastefront, the #Norwegian business committed to reducing the negative environmental impact associated with end-of-life-tyre waste, as the UK’s Telegraph dedicates an entire news piece to its mission to build an industry-leading, fully circular, Waste-to-Fuel business in the North-East of England. Vianney Vales, Wastefront CEO, provided contextualising quotes.
Wastefront is on a fast track pathway to produce ultra-low-cost sustainable #aviation #fuel (SAF), by converting waste tyres into #tyre derived oil (TDO), and subsequently processing TDO into SAF. The first commercial plant, which is shovel-ready and set to begin construction at the Port of #Sunderland, will be one of Europe’s largest Waste-to-Fuel facilities, starting TDO production in 2026. Once at full capacity, the plant in Sunderland will process up to 80,000 tonnes of waste tyres per year, preventing them from ending in landfills or being incinerated.
Backed by Vitol (and with funding from Innovation Norway and Eureka Network), Wastefront combines commercial technology with its own proprietary process to reduce the negative environmental impact associated with end-of-life-tyre waste, while delivering an economically attractive solution to strategic partners on a global scale. Wastefront was co-founded by Christian A. Hvamstad of Jagca Capital Limited.
