The situation has become so frequent that the pub's landlord has started chalking up the days between crashes! Incidents like these remind us of the importance of proper surveillance and road safety measures. Whether it's monitoring traffic hotspots or ensuring your business is protected, we can help you - drop us a DM. #SecuritySolutions #RoadSafety #StayAlert #Surveillance #CCTV #JKESecurity

  • During this January cold snap we’ve had a few enquiries from customers who’ve had issues on external security systems. With a mix of double digits and freezing conditions this week we thought it a good idea to share the issues that have arisen so far this month: 🟠Our access control locks have gotten frozen (well an FYI is as they unfreeze they might become misaligned). 🟠Completely frozen lenses meaning no visibility on surveillance cameras 🟠It looks like our CCTV lenses could have suffered minor fractures during the time they were frozen (eeek that means they could now let water in). 🟠I can see condensation on the camera lenses 🟠We’ve had power outages with the battery back up failing as well. Here’s our response to some of these issues: Defrosting your lenses by using de-icer or WD40 to defrost mag locks or lenses is a question we’ve been asked. Our answer is you should never use these substances directly on sensitive equipment like lenses or locks as they could cause damage to the materials and mechanisms. Instead, use specific de-icing sprays that are safe for security systems, or consult your security provider like JKE for best practices. If your locks have become misaligned then the obvious risk is that your doors won’t lock, the mechanism is not going to realign itself so it’s probably a good idea to call your security provider out to resolve the issue. Camera lenses fractured. Condensation can enter through small lense cracks which is likely to, at the very least, cause feed visibility issues or, worse, could short circuit your camera. In this instance there’s probably not much you can do other than replace the camera entirely; some manufacturers do offer a lense replacement option but not many! Don’t leave your cameras with fractured lenses for too long as we’ve seen big issues with systems being completely frazzled in the instances of long term condensation within the camera. Power supply failure If your security systems are not being well maintained and there’s been some power cuts or outages, then you’ve been left vulnerable. Maintenance contracts include battery checks and replacements; no maintenance means dead batteries. After the cold spell, older batteries can become dead pretty quickly, so it’s probably a good idea to get them changed before the next freeze comes along this winter. We’ve helped those who chose not to take a maintenance contract post installation which means batteries were well out of date! If you’ve got any issues you’d like our expert advice on just leave a comment or drop us a DM.

  • Survey Day Success! Last week, we were onsite for a local business in Derby, conducting a survey for their site-wide CCTV system. While there, we couldn’t help but take in some of Derby’s iconic views—always a perk of the job! The project involves a large warehouse filled with stock, but no worries for us—this isn’t our first one! We recently tackled an identical setup in Staffordshire, so we’re more than ready to get the job done. Stay tuned for further updates! #SurveyDay #CCTVSystem #DerbyViews #Security #SecuritySolutions #Derby #Midlands #JKESecurity

  • We’re seeing a lot of posts from van owners who are getting broken into and their power tools swiped. Now some show a great big hole in the van meaning the vehicle is just useless. So we thought we’d share some top tips for those who own car parks on ways to secure them. Cos one thing is for sure these van owners are sharing the business names of the car parks they are in when the deed happens. Here’s the tips: 1️⃣Install High-Quality CCTV Cameras Ensure your car park has high-definition cameras covering all entry points, exits, and key parking areas. Use motion detection features and position cameras to clearly capture license plates and faces. 2️⃣Bright Lighting is Essential A well-lit car park is a deterrent for thieves. Consider motion-activated lights in darker areas and ensure constant lighting in high-traffic zones. 3️⃣Post Clear Security Signage Display signs warning that the area is under 24/7 surveillance. This simple step can discourage opportunistic thieves. 4️⃣Secure Access Points If possible, control access to the car park with gates, barriers, or entry codes to prevent unauthorised vehicles from entering. 5️⃣Encourage Strategic Parking Advise van owners to park near security cameras or under bright lights. Parking close to building entrances can also reduce risks. 6️⃣Regular Patrols or On-Site Security Employ security staff to conduct random patrols. The visible presence of security can be a significant deterrent. 7️⃣Encourage Van Owners to Use Extra Security Measures Share tips for van users, like investing in steering wheel locks, deadlocks, or tool safes inside their vehicles. 8️⃣Collaborate with Local Police Establish a relationship with local police for regular patrols and quick response in case of incidents. 9️⃣Report Suspicious Activity Train staff to identify and report suspicious behaviour immediately, ensuring quick action can be taken. 🔟Offer Discounts for Secure Parking Encourage use of your secure parking facilities by offering discounted rates to vehicles equipped with extra security features, such as alarm systems or dashcams. Taking these proactive measures not only protects van owners but also helps build trust in your car park's safety and reputation. #carparks #carparksecurity #security #carparksecuritytips #JKESecurity

  • What You Need to Know About Motion Sensors in Commercial Intruder Alarms & CCTV Systems. Motion sensors are the unsung heroes of your business's security system, ensuring you're always one step ahead of potential threats. Here's what you need to know: ✅ How They Work Motion sensors detect movement in designated areas using technologies like infrared, ultrasonic waves, or microwaves. They’re key to triggering alarms or starting CCTV recording when unusual activity is detected. ✅ Placement is Key For maximum effectiveness, position sensors in entryways, large open spaces, and high-traffic areas. Avoid blind spots or areas prone to environmental interference (like direct sunlight or moving branches). ✅ Customisable Sensitivity Modern systems let you adjust sensitivity to reduce false alarms caused by pets, HVAC systems, or other non-threatening movements. ✅ Integration with Security Systems When integrated with your CCTV, motion sensors ensure cameras only record when movement is detected, saving storage space and enhancing system efficiency. ✅ Maintenance Matters Regularly clean sensors and ensure they’re unobstructed. Conduct routine tests to confirm functionality and recalibrate as needed. A well-placed, properly maintained motion sensor adds an invaluable layer of protection to your business. • Just like your car or gas boiler CCTV systems require regular servicing. Every year it’s a good idea to get a service booked in for your surveillance camera system however new or old it is. Here’s why: 1️⃣ Optimal Performance: Regular servicing ensures your CCTV system is operating at peak efficiency, capturing high-quality footage without interruptions. 2️⃣ Prevent Breakdowns: Identifying and fixing small issues during a service prevents costly repairs or replacements later on. 3️⃣ Enhanced Security: Regular maintenance checks can update software and security protocols, safeguarding your system against vulnerabilities and cyber threats. 4️⃣ Extended Lifespan: Just like regular oil changes for your car, servicing prolongs the life of your cameras, cables, and recording equipment. 5️⃣ Stay Compliant: For businesses, maintaining your CCTV system is often a legal requirement to ensure data protection and public safety standards are met.
