Has the new term started with some serious behaviour your SLT needs to get on top of in a sensitive area of the school? Are you wondering if schools can install CCTV in toilets? This question stirs a lot of concern - and rightly so. In general, using CCTV in school toilets is highly discouraged and likely a violation of privacy. The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) explains that areas with a “reasonable expectation of privacy,” like toilets and changing rooms, shouldn’t have surveillance cameras unless there’s a strong, necessary reason. In rare cases, like if a school faces ongoing serious bullying, violence, or vandalism, CCTV might be considered in toilets. However, even in these cases, privacy must remain the top priority, meaning footage could be limited and may not even capture key areas. Plus, such actions could lead to protests and student backlash, as seen across social media platforms! Bottom line: if your school is considering this, it should first consult with the ICO and weigh the impact on student privacy and trust carefully. #schools #schoolsecurity #JKESecurity

New Year, New Gym Memberships! Recently, JKE has taken over the maintenance of fire systems at a gym under new ownership. Fire safety is essential in hospitality spaces like these, and here's why: ✅ Early Detection Saves Lives Well-maintained fire alarm systems provide early warnings, ensuring gym members and staff have enough time to evacuate safely. ✅ Insurance Compliance Functioning fire alarms are often required by insurance providers. Failing to meet these standards could lead to higher premiums or denial of coverage. ✅ Legal & Safety Standards Building regulations mandate fire alarms in public spaces like gyms. Non-compliance can result in legal issues and jeopardise safety. Beyond protecting lives, fire alarms minimise property damage by enabling quicker emergency responses. Regular testing and inspection of components such as smoke detectors and control panels ensure systems remain effective and reliable. Peace of mind for gym owners and members is priceless. Safety isn’t just a requirement—it’s a commitment to wellbeing. #NewYearNewMemberships #FireSafety #GymSafety #PeaceOfMind #JKESecurity
