What's that?👂🏾 Another #UncharitablePapers drop! 🗞️ We're back with another paper today, and this time, we're kicking off #LGBTHistoryMonth with a piece exploring Queering Ecologies: The Decolonisation, Deconstruction and Liberation of Nature and Ourselves from none other than Jasmine Isa Q. We're obsessed with this essay and are so excited to share it with you. This paper is a poetic exploration highlighting the intersections of environmentalism, queer theory, and decolonial thought. Jasmine challenges traditional, heteronormative understandings of nature and human relationships with the Earth, advocating for a radical reimagining of ecological systems. This work calls for a decolonised, liberated vision of nature that embraces fluidity, diversity, and interconnectedness by questioning the binaries that have shaped our relationship with the environment and ourselves. Funding Justice 3 is here, friends! The Civic Power Fund and Jon Cracknell from The Hour Is Late have mapped where UK social justice grants go. Join us in February to unpick our analysis of over 20,000 grants made in the 2022/23 financial year, from 84 funders, together worth more than £935 million. We have mapped how much UK grantmaking is going to work addressing injustice, and looked in detail at how this social justice funding is allocated. With this edition, we have begun to build comparable, year-on-year data to tell us what is happening in UK social justice funding, and whether funding flows are keeping pace with rhetoric, ambition, and need. We have expanded the scope of the research from 60 to 84 funders, and added qualitative insights based on a survey completed by 33 leading social justice funders. We will be hosting two launch events on zoom. The same material will be presented in each, so please join us for the one that suits you best. When: Monday 24th February, 11am-12:15pm and Friday 28th February, 11am-12:15pm Please register for the first webinar on Monday here: https://lnkd.in/ejnkC3ch Or the second webinar on Friday here: https://lnkd.in/eSR_4xyM. We will share initial findings in this launch event and follow up with the comprehensive report. See you there.

📣 Announcement! 📣 This year, we've decided to part ways with X (formerly known as Twitter) to better align with our anti-racist values. In 2025, we're pouring love into fostering genuine connections with our bold #UncharitablePapers and specially curated events. This move is part of our commitment to always challenge white supremacy culture in all its forms. a great resource and report on the impact of austerity on racialized people.
💬 Audre Lorde states, "The master's tool will never dismantle the master's house." So, how can we expect a capitalist economic system to be dismantled through the capitalist endeavour of EDI in charities? EDI has become yet another weapon in the sector's arsenal of tools used to maintain its allegiance to white supremacy and capitalist extraction. 💬 This thought-provoking article from Khadijah Anabah examines how austerity measures strain resources and highlights racial inequities within the #CharitySector. The conversation around true liberation and justice has never been more urgent, from funding disparities to systemic biases. How can we address these challenges and work together to create a sector that serves everyone fairly? Read the full article to explore insights and solutions, and share your thoughts below. 👇🏾 Read the full piece here: https://lnkd.in/e3nj28Sh

💬 “At the conference, Jess Hausti shared a cultural teaching that stopped me in my tracks: in her community, wealth isn’t measured by what you’ve hoarded but by what you’ve given away. Power is demonstrated through care for others and generosity. This was a radical shift from what I had been taught about power in capitalist and colonialist systems, where power is often seen as control over others.” 💬 In this reflective piece, Shurron Rosales shares how attending #BAMEOnline in 2022 (now known as #UncharitableFestival) led to a radical journey of transformation – breaking down beliefs and ways of being rooted in colonialist thinking to engage with anti-racism and the #CharitySector with integrity. It's the last day of #UncharitableFestival2024, and we've had a wild ride! We're ending on a high with our event 'Stepping into your Power', where we'll be joined by Martha Awojobi's co-conspirator and partner in justice Cam St-Omer Donaldson, Memberships Lead at Fundraising Everywhere, and the inspiring Joyce Materego-Woodall, Director of Finance and Operations at Global Greengrants Fund. We are so grateful to all the speakers, partners, attendees and our team for making #UncharitableFestival2024 an absolute dream! As a team, we have felt inspired by all the speakers we've had, who have shared insights and stories about their journey of working in the #ThirdSector. We've had conversations that dare us to dream and build further than the eye can see, to challenge systems of oppression within the #ThirdSector and beyond, and to ensure that we do not allow words and phrases like #Justice and #Liberation to be co-opted by the sector and become meaningless. Over the past few weeks, we've focused on the state of anti-racism within the #CharitySector, #WealthDistribution, the non-profit industrial complex, #Imperialism, #Fundraising and #leadership. Remember, we are not doing #UncharitableFestival2024 next year, so now is the time more than ever to secure your ticket for our last event this evening! Can't make the event? Don't worry, we got you; as a ticket holder, you have access to captions and recordings after the event. Don't miss out and grab your tickets now: https://lnkd.in/exw89aHV 🚨 IMPORTANT NOTE 🚨 For people waiting for a recording - PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM MAIL FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. You know how it is with these things. 👀 As always Interpreters Of Colour Network will be providing #BSL for this event.
