About us
The John Schofield Trust was set up by the friends and family of the journalist John Schofield who was killed whilst working in Croatia on the BBC’s World Tonight programme. The Trust set out to create a lasting memorial to John’s work and character by supporting new journalists. Today we are campaigning to unlock social mobility within news rooms.

🚨🚨 Just an hour left to donate to John Schofield Trust's annual big give. For the next hour any donations will be matchfunded - meaning JST gets double. Donation link here: https://lnkd.in/eezHmyBp The John Schofield Trust is working hard to improve social mobility in UK and Irish newsrooms through its mentoring schemes for early career and apprentice journalists, and for undergraduate journalism students. People from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds are significantly under-represented in the journalism sector. The Trust believes this urgently needs to change so that newsrooms truly reflect our society. We support young people who may otherwise never have considered journalism as a career, enabling them to champion their diverse stories and life experiences.

"I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of the John Schofield Trust." Ayshah Tull was a mentee on one of our first ever programmes, and is now a trustee and a fantastic broadcast journalist for Channel 4 News. We want to contribute to more stories like hers. We have until Tuesday to secure a further £2,760 in donations, which will be automatically doubled! Give whatever you can, however small (or big!) 👇🏽💜 https://lnkd.in/ej3wkzS7 p.s. please share with your networks!! Big Give #NewsroomsForAll #ChristmasChallenge
