No surprise to see that *retrofit* is one of the key trending themes in UK Green Building Council (UKGBC)’s newest Trends in Sustainable Solutions Report. 👀 As the report identifies, “upskilling is a critical area when it comes to retrofit, particularly around home retrofit due to the number of installers required”. 🧠 We’re proud to be highlighted by UKGBC as one of the innovative solutions providers solving this key challenge for the industry! ⚡️ The key word here is *innovative*: combining new technologies with expert learning design to improve the time-to-competence for our newly qualified DEAs and RAs and to upskill project teams. 💡 What do you see as the industry’s biggest challenge with regards to the skilled workforce needed to deliver net zero? The UK plans to transition to a low-carbon economy at unprecedented speed. The majority of that change will need to happen in the next ten years. Yet a skills gap looms as industries grow, driving up demand for skilled workers while the existing workforce is ageing out of the economy. The pace of training can’t keep up. As our co-founder and CEO Mat Ilic explains in this article, while job creation is something we hear much about, the true challenge lies in also equipping the existing workforce with the skills needed for a low carbon economy. Over the last four years, the number of fuel poor households in England has doubled from 4.3 million to a staggering 8.9 million ❗️ Energy Advisors provide much-needed support to people facing fuel poverty in their local communities, helping them to improve energy efficiency at home and reduce their fuel bills. 🏡 We're very proud of the impact that our Energy Advisor Academy has had in its first year: we've supported 75 people into Energy Advisor qualifications and 22 people into jobs so far! 🎉 Reach out if you’d like to learn more about how to get involved in the Energy Advisor Academy, or if you’re looking for some Energy Advisors in 2025. 👋 Thanks to Caroline Joseph, Lorraine Gumbs, Sharon Johnson and the whole team at AgilityEco for being our wonderful partners over the last year!
