  • It’s been a fantastic week for our early careers team, filled with opportunities to support aspiring legal professionals! We hosted an insight event with Career Compass, where we welcomed sixth-form students for interactive workshops, where they heard from our trainees, legal apprentices, and NQs — providing valuable insights into life at Kennedys and showcasing opportunities to them at the firm. We also welcomed the winners of the Reading University Client Interviewing Competition, hosted by Rachel Moore. Their insight day included a career presentation by Reading alumna Amber Jenner, a trainee Q&A, and an office tour. A huge thank you to our trainees and legal apprentices for their invaluable support—we love seeing them inspire the next generation of legal talent!

Heightened litigation risk is apparent in many regions, as highlighted in our Global Forecast 2025 report. In most parts of the world this is associated with existing difficulties caused by the backlog in the courts and litigation costs. Justice regimes will, therefore, need to evolve to provide new and more efficient solutions to disputes, leveraging technological advancement and reflecting evolving societal expectations. Writing in Insurance Day, Partner Ben Appleton and Corporate Affairs Lawyer Fiona Hamilton-Wood outline how embedding alternative dispute resolution (ADR) into resolving disputes aims to not only alleviate court backlogs, but can also create a fairer, more collaborative approach to justice outside of the traditional court route. • It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our colleague, Alfonso de Ramos. Alfonso, a Partner in our Madrid office, was not only a highly respected professional known for his dedication and expertise, but also a cherished friend to many of us here at Kennedys.   Alfonso had a unique ability to bring warmth and kindness into everything he did, whether he was guiding a client with care or offering his support and mentorship to colleagues. He was quick to share his knowledge, and his positive energy had an impact on everyone he worked with. His generosity of spirit, his genuine interest in others, and his commitment to our firm’s values will be deeply missed.   Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Alfonso's family, friends, our people at Kennedys, and our clients during this incredibly difficult time. We have lost not just a colleague, but a friend, and we will always remember him fondly.
