Grant-maker connecting people who care with local causes that matter
About us
Kent Community Foundation is part of a national network of 47 Community Foundations committed to improving the lives of local people and communities, particularly the most vulnerable, isolated and disadvantaged. We connect generous people, families, and businesses with local causes that make a genuine difference in the community. Since our launch in 2001, we have distributed nearly £60 million to thousands of charities, organisations and individuals across Kent and Medway. Kent Community Foundation awards grants and loans to groups and individuals in Kent and Medway, with the aim of building strong and vibrant communities throughout the county. Our role as a Community Foundation is to match applications from the community to our donors’ interests. The majority of our support is to small community and voluntary groups that are undertaking charitable work for the benefit of people in Kent and Medway. You do not have to be a registered charity to apply for a grant; however the work you ask us to support must be legally charitable. Some of our funds also offer support to individuals but this is restricted to very specific situations. Find out more about Kent Community Foundation on our website: www.kentcf.org.uk

Yesterday our Chief Executive, Josephine McCartney, joined BBC Radio Kent's Dominic King to discuss funding and volunteering at Christmas. We were thrilled to have a number of funded organisations running projects during the festive period, especially in support of those in our local communities who may struggle during this time. Thank you to Caring Altogether on Romney Marsh (CARM), Caring Hands in the Community, Friends for Families (Sevenoaks), Tonbridge Lions, Shapeshifter Productions and Light Up New Romney for sharing a little about what you do.

Next week, we're launching our Digital Impact Report 2023-2024. The report showcases the incredible work of organisations we've supported through grant funding. Here's a sneak peek of one of the stories we've captured 🎥👇 Thanet Disabled Riding Centre provide life-changing riding and therapy sessions for children and adults with disabilities. With our support, they've been able to purchase a disability lift, making it easier for riders to mount the horses. Stay tuned for the full report next week 👀 #charity #grants #funding #impact

Happy #SocialEnterpriseDay! Today, we celebrate businesses with a heart! Organisations that turn profits while making a positive impact on the world, care for their communities, and champion causes we care about. Here at Kent Community Foundation (KCF) - UK we're proud to support amazing social enterprises like Smarden Community Store & Post Office. They received a loan and grant through our Kent Social Enterprise Loan Fund (KSELF), which helped them focus on their mission and plan for the future. Watch the video below to see how KSELF's support led them to exceed all their business plan expectations. They were forecasting a turnover of £186k by year 3, but actually hit £327k! KSELF helps bridge the funding gap for social enterprises in Kent. We offer unsecured loans between £10k and £100k, often with a grant component of up to 30%. The best part? Once repaid, the funds are reinvested back into the community to support other great causes♻️ Is your social enterprise or charity interested in KSELF? Visit our website or call James Horne, Grants and Social Loans Manager, on 01303 814 500.
