  • Happy New Year everyone ! As we move into an exciting new year we want to take a moment to celebrate a special #cargo arrival as on 27th December we welcomed vessel the #Vertom Joy to #Kingstown in #StVincent to discharge a full ship of #Aid for #UnionIsland and #Canouan. #SVG We were delighted to receive the Hon Dr Ralph E Gonsalves , Prime Minister , who greeted the ship along with local #philanthropist Mr Ian Wace who has made all of this possible through his incredibly generous #donations and tenacity to get the #rebuild mission moving on at pace to help the islands so devastated by #HurricaneBeryl. The hurricane is old news to everyone other than the people directly impacted - for whom it is still a daily trial and torment. These people who need so much help are very lucky to have a benefactor such as Mr Wace. Mr Wace is collaborating closely with the government for the rebuild programme and we are thankful to be able to do our part by facilitating the shipment of all these goods which includes a large amount of #breakbulk #construction equipment as well as building materials. Spreading a lot of Joy at this special time of year , Master Gerrit Schram hosted the delegation and ensured this special delivery made its way from the UK to its next step by ferry #BequaiExpress and on to final destination. It takes an army as they say - and this army includes the #PortofHull #Hull #GB and their port staff and stevedores , our global Kestrel team and @balticandeuropeanshipping managed by Chris Thorne who was personally on hand to manage the load planning , with Mr Wace joining him, as well as the local #SVG team of port employees , stevedores and the Kestrel SVG office led by Marlon Gibson. Sharing the same surname as famous actor Mel Gibson , Marlon is certainly prepping for his new career as movie star as he conducted another great interview with the API team of journalists! We will share his insights in another post. The video is a bit lengthy as it shows the diversity of the cargo and how it is handled on arrival , as well as interviews with the Prime Minister , Mr Wace and our CEO Andy Thorne. We hugely appreciate the kind thanks of both Mr Wace and the Prime Minister , we truly feel it is beholden on us to help in the locations where we work and we are humbled by their thanks. It has been our pleasure to help the aid programme. Huge thanks to API for the video footage. #HappyNewYear #SpreadTheJoy #AidCargo #OnePeople #Caribbean #VincyWay https://lnkd.in/e8dUpqz7

  • What makes a company a great place to work ? Our answer is simple - our People. We celebrate another wonderful work anniversary - this time for Maviley Vega for 20 years at the Miami office where she is an integral part of the team. Mavi has been with us for almost the entire time Kestrel Miami has been in operation. Thank You to Mavi for being part of the Kestrel Family and we enjoyed a surprise celebration as she received a beautiful commemorative watch. A lovely presentation speech by Gary Aspinall was followed up with gift giving and more hugs from Andy Thorne. If you’re wondering where Steve Keats was hiding ? He was enjoying a much deserved holiday when Andy visited but he joined in the congratulations on his return. So for any of you out there out who don’t like or believe in the term Company Family - Kestrel won’t be your type of place to work !!! Meanwhile we continue to be a close knit family run and operated company who values our amazing people and really appreciates their hard work , dedication and commitment. We love the fact that we have such a special work family. As well as all our hugs (full protocols observed by asking permission first ! 😉) Thank you Mavi for helping to make Kestrel Miami what it is. #workfamily #workanniversary #inspire #celebration #commitment #dedication #companysuccess #familybusiness

  • It’s another busy week in #Georgetown #Guyana with a visit from the #GCCI , the #International #Trade #Delegation to Guyana organised by the Energy Industries Council #EIC and in partnership with #Aberdeen International Associates #AIA. With a heavy emphasis on #Scottish companies active within all dimensions of the #OilandGas Industry, the delegates are exploring opportunities within the region. Elroy Harlequin of our local office has joined the delegates this week to render assistance and talk #logistics throughout their programme. Meanwhile taking a moment for a candid around the table chat , Kestrel gave insights into the steps to setting up a business in Guyana. CEO Andy Thorne emphasised many aspects relevant to this special region which although not an island is #Caribbean , conducts itself under the #British system for law and order as well as education and culturally follows the same dynamic 🇬🇧. He highlighted the importance of really getting into the local culture and understanding Guyana 🇬🇾 and it’s people #OneGuyana. Taking time to endorse the incredible welcome that new businesses can expect here , the traditional values of #respect and #relationships that are vital to success, and the group also discussed the “How To …” element of finding a local #partner in line with governmental requirements for the Oil and Gas Industry. It may seem an almost daunting amount of work for new companies but the #Energy sector boom is well publicised and there are many bodies with #BootsOnTheGround who can help including the excellent British High Commission led by HE Jane Miller , a true #ambassador for our country with proven experience empowering British business to trade successfully , The Caribbean Council who have just led a Trade Delegation and have exceptional skills arranging much sought after high end talks to facilitate all aspect of business, locally used accountants and lawyers , and of course the leaders of this delegation the #AIA #AberdeenInternationalAssociates. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy and there are practical steps to get through including local lawyers , accountants , real estate agents and of course the crucial local partners to find and establish the right type of #partnership to maximise each partner - however these missions are genuinely powering growth for future #British and #Scottish #Success Don’t forget the mantra #BootsOnTheGround ! The goal was as simple as it was ambitious – from the very start: To design and build the most operationally efficient and safe car carrier ever seen. The result? The world’s leading deep-sea vessels in the PCTC segment, already reducing emissions by 58% per car transported compared to the industry standard. And even better – from 2027, the logistics part of our customers' value chain will be close to zero emissions when our vessels run on ammonia. Thank you to Deltamarin for a fantastic collaboration. Together, we are transforming the industry.

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Commonwealth of The Bahamas at Office of The Prime Minister - The Bahamas

I’m excited to share great news for The Bahamas! We have been working hard with international partners and we can finally announce $124 million in new funding to protect our environment and our people. Keeping our beautiful waters clean is vital for our fishing, boating, and tourism industries, and for protecting our communities and our way of life. Now, we’ll have the funding to ensure we can do so for years to come. Here’s how it works: we are refinancing $300 million of our country’s external debt at a lower interest rate – and using the savings to protect our waters and our people. This debt conversion project was created after extensive research and multiple negotiations, beginning with our administration’s first big climate meeting, the UN’s COP meeting in Glasgow, Scotland. I’m so grateful to our excellent Bahamian team and to our many international partners. All of our hard work is going to make a real difference: The funds generated by the savings will be a tremendous investment -- in our environment, in our people, and in our future.

  • Great to see everyone who’s anyone in the #Energy Industry at this years OEEC Offshore Energy Exhibition and Conference. It’s an acquired art to set up these major events and always fun to see the groups of people Involved in very specific industries who attend these events on a global basis. It’s here that business #relationships are formed and #networking takes place, as well as a lot of updates and of course the latest gossip ! So what is the trick of a successful conference or exhibition ? We choose carefully where we deploy our resources to ensure we don’t waste valuable time and effort on the wrong focus and we make sure we send targetted individuals who will not only get the best out of the event but will also put back the most to other delegates and organisers. It’s no wonder that Richard Platts is the Go To person for so many in the energy sector with truly global logistics expertise - there are not many scenarios that haven’t come across his path over the years. However he continues to stretch himself by being on top of all the latest technologies in his chosen sphere. This conference is unique in its approach to multiple sectors including #maritime, #oilandgas, #offshore #wind , #onshore #wind, #hydrogen - and if you missed out on the fun this year then make sure to book in for next year. Finally the good news is that you don’t need to have been at #OEEC2024 to have an introduction to Richard and the Kestrel Group’s worldwide project logistics portfolio - you can contact us any time to discuss your projects and requirements going forward Richard can be reached on Tel & WhatsApp +44 7540 994900 Once again thank you to the British Stand focusing on #Renewable energy #GlobalReachLocalFocus #BritishBusiness #EnergySector #Breakbulk #outofgauge #cargo

  • An excellent UK Trade Business Mission to Guyana this week organised by The Caribbean Council and with excellent partnerships helping British Businesses to integrate with the booming Guyana economy. All delegates were able to benefit from a full range of meetings with local business leaders , Government Ministers across all industry sectors and private audiences with President Irfaan Ali. To have direct access at this level to high profile government officials is an exceptional opportunity for both existing companies and those looking to dip their toes into the Guyana market place. Huge amounts of support were also tendered by BritCham and by the British High Commissioner HE Jane Miller. A particular thank you must go to Chris Bennett for tirelessly organising the group - all of whom have diverse business interests and to HE Jane Miller whose dedication and passion for Guyana is infectious and who also kindly hosted two superb evening receptions at the Residence. This is an excellent example of countries working together to build trade and industry , working from a common heritage and relationships which go back many years as part of the #commonwealth and in particular the special role the #caribbean plays. The #networking opportunities and availability of information to delegates is not to be taken for granted and for anyone seeking to expand their business we would strongly recommend joining The Caribbean Council and taking advantage of the opportunities being presented throughout the Caribbean region. Thank you to all participants for making this such a positive event and we hope many more companies will look at the possibilities to do business in Guyana and we are ready to help with all #logistical requirements including #airfreight and #seafreight for all cargo types , and #procurement. #relationships #trademissions #globallogiatic #buybritish #britishexports #globallogistics #shiptoguyana #fcdo #ukef #investdma #georgetown #trade #opportunities #entrepreneurs
