The BioGrad Innovation Centre has opened a new hub dedicated to empowering women in business! 👩🔬️♀️👩 Wavertree-based BioGrad Innovation Centre’s new hub is designed to provide a dynamic space where women can innovate, foster creativity and lead, breaking down barriers and equipping them with the tools and networks to thrive. It’s close to train and bus links, and just five minutes from Liverpool city centre. Founded by Dr Natalie Kenny in 2014, BioGrad has led the way in advancing science and healthcare education, regenerative medicine, clinical research, biobanking, and numerous other innovative science and medical fields – nationally as well as across Liverpool City Region Combined Authority – and also provides funding, courses and bootcamps to help aspiring scientists and professionals unlock their potential. Its new hub – a vibrant community of women leaders and entrepreneurs – is another way for them to help empower women across a range of sectors and spaces. Dedicated desks start from just £165+VAT per month, with access to a dynamic work environment, networking opportunities, and resources to grow your STO business. Can you encourage real change in your community at a grassroots level, but need some help to bring that vision to life? 📈🌱💷 If you’re an STO that’s working hard to change communities at a grassroots level, then you might qualify for Power to Change’s investment fund. With funding opportunities between £25,000 - £50,000, Power to Change is looking to collaborate with STOs across Liverpool City Region Combined Authority that can demonstrate the potential to lead change and take an active role in revitalising their local high street or town centre. You have until midday on Friday 20 December to check your eligibility and complete an expression of interest – Power to Change is shortlisting applications for investment in January 2025 with an aim to begin disbursing funds in April. Are you a small-to-medium third sector organisation in Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, and worried about your energy costs this winter?⚡️ Liverpool City Council has been awarded £200,000 from the government's Household Support Fund to help Liverpool-based third sector organisations with a ‘community hub’ – a building or space that provides activities or services to the local community - deal with increased energy costs during the winter months. Eligible businesses can apply for a one-off grant of £500. The grant is available to apply for now, and the closing date for the fund is in March 2025 or whenever the fund has been spent. We can only reduce Liverpool City Region Combined Authority’s carbon footprint if we all work together 🌍♻️🌱 Step forward Zero Carbon Liverpool City Region… The partnership between the third sector, academia, local government, trade unions, the cultural sector and businesses provides projects, events and training, helping LCR reach net zero by 2040. ZCL-CR and partners are: – working with decision makers to improve active travel infrastructure – contributing to new urban design projects to realise more zero-carbon developments – inspiring more renewable energy projects – providing training and learning through carbon literacy courses for communities, businesses and residents Carbon literacy is simply raising awareness of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday activities, and ZCL-CR’s accredited course is the best way to take action now and become officially certified as ‘Carbon Literate’. ZCL-CR’s 20 courses – hosted and delivered in collaboration with social enterprises and partners including Kitty’s Launderette, Rotunda, KUUMBA IMANI MILLENNIUM CENTRE LIMITED, Metal, Squash, Homebaked, Fabric District CIC and ourselves – will help us get more informed, engaged and active participants in the net-zero transition. ZCL-CR also has an open crowdfunder on Spacehive designed to help deliver carbon literacy training for all, and educate more people on what it means to be carbon literate.
