Do you ensure you're always using inclusive language? When we use ableist language for example, we are minimising the experiences of people with disabilities. Beyond seeing someone with a physical disability, many people may not reveal they have a non-visible disability or mental health condition. To combat ableism, we must be mindful of the language we use and think about how to be more inclusive. As learning designers, we need to be aware and acknowledge the impact our words have on creating a more inclusive and welcoming learning environment. We also need to be ready to continuously learn about language and its impact - and be ready to adapt and change when required. This blog explores these challenges and offers insights and tips on how to lead the way... https://lnkd.in/g2zB-56M

Throughout last year we saw a swift journey of AI being adopted into our everyday working lives. We were overloaded with AI-obsessed content and advice and it was a lot! We quickly learnt that we need to be aware of the benefits and limitations and not rely too heavily on it. Last year, we hosted the webinar 'Embracing the human element in the age of AI: Human-centered learning design' with our colleagues Cammy Bean and Matthew Mella. They discussed the importance of remembering that a learner will always be a real person with multi-faceted human needs. Matthew reminds us: 'A learner is a real person dealing with real needs, dealing with real people in real situations.' If you're keen to explore the impact of AI now and in the future, then check out our popular guide, 'The impacts of AI in digital learning: A guide for L&D professionals': https://bit.ly/4bSD0uH - This insightful clip is from our popular webinar, 'Embracing the human element in the age of AI: Human-centered learning design'. Does the following sound familiar? - You research extensively on subjects you're already sure of - You focus on the first 'good' bit of info you receive in conversations - You learn best when practising something 'little and often' over a long period These are examples of the Anchoring effect, Confirmation bias and the Spacing effect. By understanding these cognitive biases and behavioural science principles, Learning Designers can create more engaging, effective and impactful learning experiences. Read our popular blog '5 ways to use behavioural science to improve your learning experiences' to find out more... https://lnkd.in/gmrT2P7V Image description: The graphic says '5 ways to use behavioural science to improve your learning experiences' and there's a woman talking and gesturing with her hands. The graphic is green and the Kineo logo features alongside the words 'Blog post' in a black rectangle.

Right now, Senior leadership teams across most thriving organisations are interested in ensuring teams have the critical skills needed for the future. And, for this to work successfully, L&D efforts must be aligned with strategic business goals Last year, Cammy Bean (our Solutions Consultant), spoke with Myles Runham, Senior Analyst at Fosway Group about how we can demonstrate this value to senior leadership. Myles argues that it's about making sure there is a distinct overlap between the organisation's strategic goals and the needs of the individual learner. This is where the skills requirement can come to life for L&D. These conversations are full of opportunity! But, we know it can be tough to navigate and that's why we've created our guide: 'Securing C-suite buy-in: effective approaches for L&D'. Check out the comment section for full details.

We talk about a ‘data-first’ culture with our colleagues and clients on a regular basis. The reality is that many people get energised by the concept of data transformation and fostering a ‘data-first’ workplace. However, it’s often really hard to change the internal narrative. We know that this shift isn’t something that happens overnight. We are here to support you and your teams to make this shift. We’d love to hear more about how you’ve persuaded colleagues to adopt a data-driven approach. Vote in our poll and please share any useful anecdotes or tips in the comment section!
