Welcome to King’s, a non-selective free independent school in the state sector that will provide a world class education for the young people of Wavertree and Liverpool. King’s Leadership Academy Wavertree is founded on international research and traditional values with a huge focus on leadership and academic development. Our vision is “To develop in each of our students the academic skills, intellectual habits, qualities of character and leadership traits necessary to succeed at all levels and become successful citizens in tomorrow’s world”. At King’s we believe every child can succeed and that great teaching is the key to that success. On Tuesday we received an exciting phone call - the Department for Education have received permission to appoint a contractor to turn this amazing building (the former Sony HQ) into our temporary accommodation as we march towards September 2025. This is a significant hurdle cleared, one that means we can begin the engagement meetings with the preferred contractor in the new half term! 👷🏽♀️🧱🏗️

This may look like just a gap in a wall, but it means a whole lot more. The removal of the turnstile on Rathbone Rd marks the beginning of the works needed to clear the planning conditions around our site. This small step is the first of many on our journey through to September 2025. The next big milestone will be seeing which building contractor is appointed in the next month.

We are incredibly proud as this week we have sold our 500th ticket to our series of Open Events this term. The challenge of a new school; with 2 members of dedicated staff (for now), no building (yet), no amazing reputation (coming soon) and minimal community knowledge (not for long) has been an exciting challenge to take on. The fact that we have sold out our five events is testament to the support of colleagues at the Great Schools Trust and all those we have met along the way who are after the same thing as we are - to give the parents of Liverpool more choice when it comes to secondary education in the city. We have added 4 new dates to our events calendar to make sure we can keep raising awareness of what we are trying to build in the city - something very special.
